New me

"Susan, wake up".
'Ohhhhh...can't I just rest? I just closed my eyes 'jhare'.
I'm someone that likes to sleep a lot and this nudging is really bugging me if you don't mind.

"Lemme, I want to sleep", I mumble sleepily.

"Get up!", I jerk up and rub my eyes.'That was loud'.

I glare at the person that just ended my 'almost getting peaceful' sleep. After my eyes clear a little, I try to figure out the person this glare is being given to.

"Are you glaring at me young lady?". That voice sounds familiar, can't seem to place it tho'.

I rub my eyes gently again un order to have a clearer view if the annoying person.

"Mom", I say, a gasp following my spoken word. At this time, my eyes were already fully opened. I practically jump out of my bed to attend to my mom's need which are by the way, still unknown.

"Do you want to get late to your new school?", mom asks. "Get up and dress up on time. You have just 30 minutes if you don't want to be tardy".

Oh no...oh no...today's Monday. I definitely forgot already. I knew this was going to happen that was the reason why I told myself I had to always get up by 6 in the morning, starting from a week before resumption. I guess my over-excitement yesterday caused this. I was too busy planning about today that I didn't realize it was almost midnight. And now, I get the consequence.

I rush into the bathroom and take a quick shower and when I mean quick, trust me to mean very quick. I wear my new school uniform and rush downstairs to have my breakfast.

I love my new school uniform, I can almost marry it. The uniform is a white shirt and a grey pleated skirt coupled with a grey jacket.

"You have 5 minutes left", my mom says. Oh no... this wasn't how I planned today to be. I rush my breakfast but still end up leaving almost half of it cause of lack of time.

"I'm ready mom", I say. My mom is going to drive me to school today. This wasn't how it used to be. I usually went to school myself but that was at my former school tho', I guess it'll change now that I'm attending a private school.

On arriving at my new school, the bell rings signaling the beginning of the first period.

"Just what I needed", I mumble to myself."Can today get any worse?".

I check for the first class I'm supposed to have now. It's civic education. Gosh!!! 'I guess this can get any worse'. I hate civics, okay I guess hate is a really strong word but maybe I strongly dislike Civic Education.  I mean what do I have to do with the happenings that have mostly taken place in the past?

I'm about heading to my civics class when I notice I don't even know where the class is. This is definitely not how I planned my first day to look like. I wanted to get to school early, try to make new friends and locate where my classes would be held. But now, I don't know anything about this school well except for its name. I don't know where my class is holding and worst of all, no one to call a friend. All this just because I 'overslept'. Arghhh.

"Someone feeling lost?".
A boy slightly taller than I am with dimples which makes him cute when he smiles asks. I'm sure he will be cute even without the smile presently on his face but the smile and the dimples makes him look even cuter.

"Yeah... I guess... I'm new here so I don't know my way around yet". I tell him resignedly because I'm definitely sure that first period will be almost over as at now.

"I know you are a fresh blood", he says confidently. "Haven't seen you around before and trust me when I say I know all the students in this school, I mean all the students well except for the nerds and science people"

"Thought you said all the people in this school", I say smiling. I'm getting to like this boy I mean, he is funny.

"Was joking actually about knowing everyone. Come on, this school is big. I don't think I know up to half of the students sef". He says before he quickly adds "although the whole school might just know me cause I'm quite popular here"

"I figured you were joking and I'm sure the whole school knows you with your kind of behaviour". I'm really having fun. This school is not so bad it seems.Then the bell had to ring just then. "Ummm...", I realize I don't even know his name. 'Just the proper way to making friends'. "I have to get to class already missed first period. I'm Susan John and you are...?"

"Aaron Jonathan ... ", he says extending his hand. I shook it and head towards my next class.

My next class should be chemistry.

Oh no. . where is the chemistry class?
Should have asked Aaron where that is supposed to be.

I decide to start walking around again knowing for sure I am going to be tardy for second period.

Just what I needed after missing completely first period.

"You need help in the directions?". Someone asks behind me. I can feel the smile in the person's voice.

Definitely a life saver.

"Yes...", I say turning around to look at the lifesaver. "Definit...", I stop and a smile creeps into my face. "Aaron! How did you know I'll be stuck?".

"Let's just say I got my ways".

"Yeah you do", I say even though I know he either remembered part of our conversation and came looking for me, or he was wandering the school corridors and found me. But don't let me ruin his moment.

"I really need to get to the chemistry class now. Do you know where it is?", I ask desperately. My attendance record has already been soiled on the first day. This is terrible.

"I do... I was also going to my next class which happens to be the science class when I saw you".

I guess it is the second option then.

"I always want to get late to classes just to taunt my teachers", he continues. I open my eyes and mouth wide as I stare at him.

Wow! This guy is really something. But anyways, he's just what I need I mean, without him being who he is now, he'd be in class and I will still be wandering the school hall and I will definitely be in trouble for skipping yet another class on my first day of school. Come to think of it, I'm still I mean we're still wandering the school corridor and I---

"Aaron aren't we there yet?", I ask terribly sounding desperate. "This is going to ruin my attendance record totally and also my parents will be so mad at me I'd probably get the scolding of my life and then---".

"Woah woah, take it easy there", Aaron interrupts my ranting. I feel embarrassed but just a tiny little bit. "We are here already", he says.

I look at the closed door of my chemistry class and I exhale.

I didn't even realize I was holding my breadth until now

"Thank you... Very much Aaron, you're a life saver really", I say happily. "So are you gonna go in too?"

"It was my pleasure actually and I guess I should also enter the class now. Mr. Bala would be very angry already now", he says and smiles slightly. I just look at him and shake my head though with a small smile of mine.

He opens the door and allows me to walk in after which he does.

Quite a gentleman.
