Part One

Cold weather came blowing in from the east and rain soon came in from the south cascading over everything in sight. Thunder clouds circled over head. Which was a clear sign to stop driving since we were in the middle of a fucking cornfield.

But there I sit, stuck in a smelly van with eight other people freezing to death. We still had about three hours to go before we got back to the camping site. I could tell was going to be an awful Monday.

In a normal world I would just ask my mom or dad for help but I can't. If you didn't know already, our world is... flawed. On April 14 two years ago all the adults disappeared. No body knows why or how but I knew they weren't coming back. They had left us here to fend for ourselves in this big jumbled mess of a world. I was only 14 back then but it feels like I've aged decades, being forced into adulthood as quick as a movie montage.

It could always get worse though. If you were rich before you had it the worst because the only use for money was for toilet paper.
If you were poor you had it the best because you had nothing to lose in the first place. I used to have it good. I had both of my parents and lived in a condo with my little sister. Now we live in big, brown, beaten up tents.

How lucky we are to be stuck in this hell hole we call a world. But that's just a side note compared to all the stuff I have-more like forced- to do.

I Sadiq, was the oldest boy in our gang of 8 which immediately made me the leader. Sadly, I'm also the least respected. Why you may ask? No bloody fucking reason. But if you were to ask me, I do a pretty good job at keeping 8 teenagers together. But back to my story. After a few hours or so I decided to just stop on the side of the road.

While everyone had been sound asleep ages ago, I finally an opening for some shut eye. I put my feet up in the front of our and closed the small curtain that separated me from everyone else.

I shifted in between the seat cushions to try to get comfortable. Once I failed- obviously- I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep.

That's when bad went to worse.

Blood all I could remember was blood all over my hands and face. One hand held a stake knife and the other hand the heart of my friend, Rhys. It all felt too real, and it made me sick to my stomach. I know I hated Rhys hell, everyone did. I probably would have dropped her off somewhere if I wasn't such a good person.

But after this I couldn't be to sure anymore. As I looked at her dead body, her eyes were blood shot red and looked like glass fish eyes staring at my corrupted soul.Judging me for what I had done to her.

I kept hearing someone shouting in the background but I couldn't make out their words. Then a hand gripped onto my shoulder. I woke up to see a terrified Ernesto staring back at me l Iike I was a mad man.
