Chapter 1: New Student, New World

"My name is Clarice Mizu and...and..."

The fifteen year old girl paused her sentence to drop her focused glance from the mirror, her messy and wavy yet somewhat neat light chocolate/coffee colored hair dropping down with her glance as well. As she moved her left bang from covering her left eye, she looked back at the mirror. Her aquamarine eyes stared at its own reflection with an aura of determination yet somewhat nervousness shining in her eyes.

"My name is-Oh who am I kidding? I've been practicing this for the past 20 minutes. Ugh...I'm not ready for this," Clarice sighed. "I have never been the new student at a school ever since when I first joined my old school. Now after 12 years of being at that school I decided to transfer. What's even worse is that this is the age I have to be teamed up with 7 other people my age that I don't even know."

Clarice fixed the right sleeve of her shadow gray sleeveless leather jacket on her shoulder and straightened out her shirt that resembled the color of a bright blue sky. She checked to make sure her short jean leggings were smoothened as well. She stepped into her black boots and slung her backpack over her back and slowly walked to the door. She opened the door and stared into the outside world that was supposed to seem normal, yet seemed different today as if she has never seen it before.

"It's now or never."

She closed the door behind her and took out her phone, the Steven Universe designed phone case glimmering in the sunlight while she looked up directions how to get to her new school.

"What if they don't like me? What if nothing changes from my old school? I'll have to resort to terrible measures when that happens...no, why would that happen? Oh man I'm not ready for this..."

She began thinking until she decided to walk with her headphones being worn, trying to distract herself with music. After a few minutes of walking the path she was given as directions, she arrived at a tall snowy white building. The small cherry blossom trees swayed with the breeze as she stared at the most well known magic academy in Magicalia, Magicalia Capital Academy.

"This school is huge..." Clarice muttered, taking off her headphones and strolling through the outside of the school to take a short tour herself. She was awed by not only how big the school was, but the amount of space surrounding the school. She stopped when she saw a huge basketball court in the back and smiled.

"Well, I get to play basketball! That's one good thing! And there is a bench nearby to listen to my music, draw some sketches of cartoons and anime, write my little story series, maybe hum a few songs while I sit down and relax..."

All of a sudden, Clarice was met with a crash and a fall. As she felt her body tumble into the concrete of the court, she looked up and saw two dark coffee beans...no, eyes. She saw two dark coffee bean colored eyes staring at her. The person had short and messy dark scarlet red that seemed to have a shine in the sunlight. She later realized it was a boy that seemed her age. They had crashed into each other while he playing basketball and while she was slowly strolling, the basketball rolling right by them. He wore a short sleeved midnight blue shirt with a sort of V-neck collar, coal black jogging pants and neon red sneakers. He was on top of her as she was lying on the concrete, still trying to take in everything that had just happened.

"I'm so sorry..." The boy was able to say among everything. Later on, a sound of a slap was heard through the air.

"Why the hell did you slap me?!" The boy asked in shock mixed with anger and he held his cheek, the both of them standing up.

"Why the hell did YOU crash into me?! Watch where you are playing!" Clarice responded annoyed as she held her right temple of her forehead, feeling a few droplets of blood from the impact with the ground.

"I said I was SORRY," The boy emphasized the last word until he noticed the few blood droplets smear onto her hand. "Oh my god you are bleeding..."

"Well that's great. That's totally how I wanted the first day of my new school to go..." Clarice muttered to herself until she felt herself getting pulled and found herself running into the direction she was being pulled into.

"Where the hell are you taking me?!" Clarice questioned as the boy held her hand running up the flights of stairs.

"Just come with me..." He responded calmly yet somewhat annoyed as they arrived at a room where a woman with short and straight jet black hair and silver eyes met her.

"Let me fix that scratch..." She walked over to Clarice and shined a glowing golden light over her right temple, healing the wound and seeming like it was never there.

"Thank you...and you must be the school nurse..." The new student read the identity pin on the lady's shirt as she walked out the door, the boy still standing there behind her.

"Well...I don't know if I should thank you or hurt you. But since you brought me to the nurse, I guess I have to say thank you." Clarice said as she turned to look at the boy, but saw nothing. However, she did hear the sounds of footsteps running down the stairs.

"He heard me and didn't even respond...Baka."

All of a sudden, she heard beeping on her phone. She looked at the clock and her pupils shrunk.

"Oh crap it's 8:15! That's when they assign teams!"

Clarice rushed and slid down the banisters of the stairs, quickly arriving at the auditorium where a huge audience of people her age stood. They were already announcing teams.

"I hope I wasn't too late..."

Clarice walked in with the crowd as the principal spoke. He was a tall and slender man with neatly combed sapphire blue hair and had peridot colored eyes.

"Welcome everyone to Magicalia Captial Academy! I am proud for everyone here because this is the age when..."

Clarice zoned out during his speech and just sneaked an earbud into her ear to listen to her music. After a few minutes of announcing a bunch of names she never heard, she finally heard a group of names with hers in it and turned off her music.

"Ok...Team or Cluster 17. Please meet at the corner of the auditorium where there is a blue lantern hanging on the wall. This applies to the following people. Mae Aria, Amber Blaze, Drake Energie, Cole MacKenzy, Blossom Cath, Jack Blizzard, Sora Wayde and Clarice Mizu."

As the announcements ended, Clarice got to the corner where the blue lantern hang and saw her fellow teammates there. She saw a bunch of new faces, however she saw a certain thing about her team that caught her eye. There was a boy that has dark coffee bean brown colored eyes and short and messy dark scarlet red hair. He also had a midnight blue short sleeved shirt, coal black jogging pants and neon red sneakers. Wait a minute...he was the same guy she met earlier.

And coincidentally, he realized who she was too.

Out of nowhere, two voices of different genders spoke the same word.

"YOU!"
