I came home and kicked off my sneakers. Well, I'd like to say it was like the guys in books do, but I actually stepped on the heels of my converse and tripped, putting my hands in front of me before I hit the hard, tiled floor. My younger brother Nolan laughed at me and of course didn't help at all.

"Thanks for all your help, little bro." I sighed sarcastically, standing up and heading towards the stairs. I made it to the stairs then ran back to my shoes, realizing I had forgotten my bag. I grabbed it and ran up the stairs. My Mum was working late and my Dad was on a business trip in The Netherlands.

I had gotten home late from band practice (nerdy, right?) because my best friend Matthew had his car taken away by his super strict Dad, but I was sure he would get his car back tomorrow, his Mum doesn't like him being in trouble and doesn't really care anyway.

I pulled out my homework with a sigh and got to work. It was late and I was exhausted from gym class (which I'm terrible at) and I honestly wanted to sleep, but I had an English test tomorrow which I couldn't afford to fail, so I needed to study.

I stared at my notes for so long that the pages had become blurs of white and black. My eyelids were heavy and my hoodie's strings hung in front of my pages and I felt a small throb of pain as my head hit the desk and I fell asleep.

I woke up to a shuffling sound and at first I was annoyed figuring it was my little brother going to the bathroom or something, but a gust of cold air hit against my skin and I shot up, well, sat up lazily and rubbed my eyes. I turned and saw a girl sitting on my window sill. It wasn't just any girl, it was Piper Brooks. The insanely hot, popular girl at my school who was my neighbour.

"Hey." She greeted simply. Her lips were curled into a smirk and she was wearing a black leather skirt, a white tank top, black platform heels, her beautiful green eyes sparkled with mischief, and her brown hair looked slightly ombre, but everyone knew it was natural.

"What are you doing here?" I asked bluntly, narrowing my tired eyes as they adjusted to the darkness of the room.

Piper frowned. She straightened up and kicked off her heels so they landed with a soft thump on the hardwood floor. She stood up and leaned against one of my Harry Potter posters. "That's not a very nice way to greet someone." She pointed out.

I felt sorta bad, but knew she was joking around because her eyes were still mischievous. I ruffled my hair unconsciously. "Sorry, but, we went to the same elementary school, we currently go to the same high school, we've lived next to each other forever, and not once have you talked to me." I defended.

She shrugged, a gesture with a lot of meanings, none of them very distinctive. She walked towards me and took my arm, pulling me out of my desk chair after which I proceeded to stumble before catching my balance.

"I have a reason for talking to you. Albeit not a good one, and it's not exactly a reason for talking to you, more of a reason to be here." Piper said. I saw her put her hand in her pocket and she pulled out a pair of my glasses. They were burgundy and black, by far my favourite pair.

"Those are mine!" I exclaimed, jumping and grabbing them. She side-stepped me easily and I face planted into my Harry Potter poster. I stood up, rubbing my nose which had erupted in pain but thankfully wasn't bleeding or anything.

She smirked again, something I noticed she does a lot. She walked casually back to the window and I watched in awe as she held onto the window sill, grabbing a pipe and making it to the ground. She climbed up to her window when I realized her black heels were still laying on my hardwood floor,
