In Little Things

Grand schemes of mountains and seas

Lakes that span a hundred miles.

Tempests raging in a palace of ease.

Rivers carved into curious aisles.

A thousand horseman on backs of steeds.

A hundred in the retinue of a dozen kings.

But i have grown to see our needs

are based on little things.

The smile of a laughing child,

The way the sun comes through the leaves

The wonder of a snowflake pile

a heart worn on someone's sleeve.

The tender kiss of a mother's lips

The sweetness wrought by a spring spray,

More wonderful by far than cast-iron ships

Is the beauty of a new day.

I wrote this for you, Divine. Even if it is hard to write and sing, keep writing and smiling.

:) Happy birthday, Divine...:)
