The Quiet Song

How can one catch a moving star,

Or a word, a thought, a stroke.

I thought it was impossible...

But you smiled at what I wrote.

It is a quiet song we share.

Not full of emptiness or air.

Such, some say, are friends to be

You are the better song to me.

I write and glance up through the trees,

You are under the clouds and mist.

I have never felt at ease

Without sun or moon on my wrist,

We have watched the same sky.

We may never know when or why

But we have sung midst showers and sun.

And we may part when the song is done.

But if I leave, away for a while..

Promise me one simple thing.

Never forget to smile,

And in your heart, quietly sing
