Girl Meets New Love

Chapter 15

I whine,
"But it's over plaayyeeedd."

Sofia says,
"Can you sing it?"

I look in the rear view mirror and see her doing puppy dog eyes and a pouty lip.
I smile and say,
"Ugh fine."

I start to quietly sing along as we're driving down the road.
I see out the corner of my eye row staring at me with a slight smile on her face. Not just any smile. A smile that looks like it honestly wasn't forced. A smile that looks as if it just came with looking at me. Like the smile I get when I see her.
I look over when we get to a red light and grab her hand. She puts it on her lap and coos,
"I love you."

I smile and say it back.

By now the kids are screaming along to the song and Rowan is on her phone as I can't help but sing along too.

I hear Rowan say,
"Don't sing and drive kids."

As her phone is held up pointed at me.
I look over and roll my eyes and decide to scare her.

I see the road ahead of me is open and no car is around me.
I smirk and move the wheel back and forth so we swerved for a second in the road.
She gasps scared and laughs right when the kids and I start to.
She punches me and says,
"Bully."

And stops the video.
I hear my phone buzz and she says,
"Check Twitter later."

I smile and shake my head and say,
"Is you randomly recording me gonna be a thing now?"

She says suspiciously,
"Maybeeee."

I scoff and continue to drive to the school.

After 15 minutes of blasting songs and singing along,
We get to my old elementary school. Man this is weird.
I park the car and Sofia begs,
"Can you guys pleeease come in?"

I hesitate,
"-uhhh."

Jake says,
"Pweeeeeeeeeease!"

I say giving in,
"Okay okay. But everyone better not freak out we don't want to disturb the school."

They cheer and get out of the car and run to the school with me and Rowan following behind.

When we get in the school the lady in the office is the same one from when I went here.
Mrs. P. She looks at me and smiles big and comes out for a hug.

I hug her and say,
"Hi how are you?"

She says excited,
"AH look at you little miss famous!! I gotta tell everyone you're here! You know Jake and Sofia?"

Sofia says,
"Sabrina is our cousin!"

I nod at her response and she says,
"Okay well you can go bring them to class and then we gotta go see everyone! And it seems you brought another Hollywood friend."

Rowan sticks her hand out to shake and says friendly,
"Hi I'm Rowan, Sabrina's co-star."

Mrs. P says hugging her,
"Oh please I know you! My daughter says you're her favorite."

She smiles and says,
"Awe well thank you!"

We say goodbye and take my cousins to their classrooms.
We drop off Sofia first. She hugs me goodbye and says adorably,
"Don't worry I won't tell anyone you're here until you pick me up!"

I smile and say,
"Well thank you bud. Have a good day."

She opens the door and goes in and now we go down to jakes pre-k room.

Along the way I hear a door open and foot steps and a far too familiar voice yell,
"SABRINA!"

I stop in my tracks and I roll my eyes before I turn around.
This is Mrs. Miller. My old 6th grade teacher.
She was OBSESSED with me. I don't know why. She would always say I look like her niece and always wanted me to come back and visit her once I left Pennsylvania. I mean I guess it's nice, but it just was a little weird to me. Maybe she's just lonely.

I turn around and say,
"Hi!"

She hugs me really tight and I choke out,
"Oh okay okay okay!"

She lets go and cups my face.
I see Rowan behind her look at jake weirdly and they both give weird looks.
I give her a "I'll tell you later" look.

Mrs. Miller says,
"I didn't know you were here! And you came to visit awe!"

I smile sheepishly because I wasn't here to visit.
I've been so busy I forgot about her. Now I wish I didn't see her again.

She says,
"How's California been? I see you've been doing a lot!"

I say pulling Rowan next to me,
"Yep! A lot with her! This is my co-star you've seen her if you watch the show."

She says,
"Hmm. No I don't recognize you but hi!"

I give her a weird look and say,
"It's her show technically. How do you not know her? She's the GIRL that's meeting the world. I don't ge-"

Rowan cuts me off dragging me down the hall,
"Well we gotta go drop off Jake here!"

I smile and continue waving,
"We've been very busy. Very tired! Talk to you later bye!"

Once we turn the corner and drop Jake off we rush past Mrs. Miller's room and out the door to the car only to find it's been keyed.
I say,
"Dammit! There was paparazzi here that blew our cover."

Rowan gets in the car after me and says laughing,
"When you started to get all sassy with her I was about to lose it."

I laugh with her and say,
"She's so weird! I forgot to tell you about her."

Rowan says,
"How could you forget HER?"

I say starting the car and driving out,
"I dunno. I've been so busy and all plus you're really the main thing on my mind."

She smiles and says,
"Cutie."

And we continue to drive home on this beautiful cold winter morning.
