Hey everyone,

So after a long wait I am back and this time I got the amazing opportunity to interview Wattpad's very own Natasha Preston. She is the author of the horror / mystery thriller novel 'The Cellar' which is going to be published real soon (Yay!)

In this interview, Natasha has not only spoken about her novel, but also told us a little about herself.

                 So here's presenting - Natasha!

About you:

1.Describe yourself in a sentence.

This is actually a really hard thing to do so I'll just say I'm a family person who loves to read, write and drink wine/cocktails out in the sun!

2.How did you come to know about Wattpad?

I was scrolling through the app store and came across Wattpad.

3. When did you publish your first story on here?

It was in September 2010, not long after I'd discovered Wattpad. Before that I'd never written anything!

4. How did you feel when you saw the response you received?

Shocked, amazed, grateful were the main three.

5. Best and Worst thing about Wattpad?

Best is the community, I've made a lot of friends on here, and they've helped me realize I want to write full-time. Worst is ignorant and rude people. As an Ambassador (although I'm on a break now due to being super busy) I've seen the horrible side of a social site. But unfortunately you get that everywhere now.

6. You are a WP Ninja. Have you ever had to step in to sort out any arguments like haters on a story? Could you give one example?

Oh yeah! I've been asked to get involved with quite a few situations. Luckily they've been quick to be sorted out, like both parties apologizing or Wattpad banning a troll.

7. Your favorite writers(s) on Wattpad and off wattpad.

My Favorite writers are Kirsty Moseley (kirsty1000), Gillian Flynn, Stephen King, Isabelle Rae (DazedAndConfused), DarknessAndLight and makeandoffer.

8. Your favorites Novels - Wattpad and non-wattpad.

Nothing Left to Lose (almost published woo!) Girl Gone, The Shining, I Sold Myself to the Devil For Vinyl... and The Shy Girl Has a Gun.

9.Any message to the young writers out there who see you as a role model?

Hahaha see me as a role model, that's so weird. I think of role models as celebrities but perhaps they shouldn't be if Cyrus is anything to go by now. I just want to say to everyone that you should never give up on doing something you love. You've got to work for a long time so it may as well be something you enjoy. Don't let anyone tell you can't do anything

About Cellar:

1. The Cellar is inspired from a dream you saw. Could you describe that dream?

I don't remember a huge deal about the dream only that I was out (not sure where), and it was dark, I was grabbed and assume I was thrown in a car/van but the next thing I remember is being chucked in a cellar. And that's pretty much all of it. I'm not sure if the flowers were in it because I can't remember thinking of the idea so it must have been in the dream somewhere!

2. Was writing in a complex character like Clover's perspective difficult or easy?

Clover's POV was difficult to write, but I did love the challenge of doing something so completely different. I watched a lot of the Crime channel, many real accounts of serial killers and interviews with them.

3. How would you describe Clover in a sentence?

Broken. I'd just describe him as broken. He was a normal child until everything went wrong. It was his parents' fault, particularly his mum's. He no longer fully understands what's right and wrong, his version is twisted so he truly believes what he's doing is fine

4. How would you describe Summer and Lewis's relationship?

Summer and Lewis' relationship is a pretty typical young teenage relationship where they've not yet had to deal with anything real life throws at you. I think we can all relate to that to the fuzzy, easy love they have. If they were older and living together there would be a lot more moaning at each other for leaving the toilet seat up, money worries and who should do what around the house!

5. Which was the most difficult scene / chapter you wrote for the Cellar?

The scene after Summer is raped by Clover. I had no idea how to get inside her head. She couldn't even escape after so not only does she have to deal with what happened, but she also has to play along with his happy family act.

6. Did you ever get a writer's block for this story?

All the damn time! I usually get it if I've been writing too much, it's my own annoying way of telling myself I need a break. Sometimes scenes were hard to write because of what was going on, and I just couldn't get to that place in my head.

7. Your favorite character?

Oddly it's Clover. I don't necessarily like him because whatever happened to him he ultimately had a choice and he chose to continue what he'd been taught rather than finding another way. I suppose it's like people growing up with alcoholic parents, that's all they know so you can see why it's easy for them to do that themselves, but they also can choose to have a different life. He's just so complex, and I'm probably most proud of creating him.

8. Which was your favorite chapter in your novel?

Wow okay my favorite chapter is probably the one from Clover's point of view when he's a child. It shows how young and innocent he once was - like everyone else. That chapter isn't on Wattpad though, it's one of the new ones!

9. How are you feeling that 'The Cellar' is going to be published?

AMAZED! I couldn't believe it when I was told Sourcebooks want to publish it! I still can't really!

10. Is the fan-funding project that is going on right now for your story making you a tad bit nervous or are you really excited?

A bit nervous I suppose. It's odd asking my readers to fun something. Especially since there are no editing costs involved to me. But the pledges are to help The Cellar be successful, every one is a pre-order and will give the book a boost when it comes out. I've had 17 pledges already, and I'm so grateful to those people. I can't wait to send out all the rewards and sign paperbacks if I reach the target!

11. Any message you want to give out to all 'The Cellar' fans?

Thank you for supporting the book. Without all of you I wouldn't have even started it and now it's getting published!

Thank you for the interview Tasha and I wish you 'All the very best' in 'The Cellar's' publishing.
