"In addition we also found this." Warren said, holding up a small device inside an evidence bag. Felicity immediately recognized it and wasted no time in beating the Detective to the explanation.
"It's a makeshift hard drive, designed to plug into a security camera and disrupt the footage." She explained, receiving a nod from Warren.
"Exactly, we found this connected to the camera outside the main R&D entrance. We've gone back through the footage and it appears to have put the system in a loop while the intruder was here." Warren added, motioning to the footage as it played on the terminal beside them.
"Unfortunately this and the strange marks in the vents are the only evidence we have to go on. It's as if a ghost broke in." The Detective stated, deciding to be honest about the current chances of finding a suspect.
"Sir, the FBI agents would like a word." An officer said as he stopped beside the Detective.
"FBI? Why is the FBI here for a break-in?" Felicity asked as she glanced to the Detective and then to Oliver, feeling a sense of worry creep up her back. Keeping Oliver's true identity from the local police was one thing but keeping it secret from a government agency could prove troublesome and dangerous. Oliver reassured Felicity with a calming look, stopping her from jumping to any conclusions.
"According to them, they're working on a similar case...they think it might be related." Warren explained as he turned to introduce the first FBI agent.
"Agent MacDonald, this is the CEO of Queen Technologies." Warren began as he motioned toward Felicity. The tall agent paused briefly before extending his hand and smiling. Felicity smiled and greeted the man as she studied his appearance, surprised that an FBI agent would have such long hair and a charming smile.
"And Oliver Queen the CFO." Warren added, gesturing to the man standing closely beside Felicity. The agent shook Oliver's hand, both taking note of the others strength.
"It's nice to meet you both, perhaps you could help me with a question. Have there been any recent heating or plumbing issues with the building?" The agent asked, catching both Oliver and Felicity off guard as he managed to maintain his professional manner during such a strange question.
"Uh, not that I'm aware of." Felicity answered.
"What does that have to do with the break-in?" Oliver asked, hoping to get a clear answer.
"Well a similar case we're working on might be related to this incident and I just need to cover all bases." The agent explained as a second man in a dark suit appeared behind him.
"Hey." The slightly shorter man began as he spoke directly to the agent.
"Oh. Agent Loggins this is Felicity and Oliver Queen, the CEO and CFO of the company...respectively." Agent MacDonald said as he introduced his partner.
"Oh we're not...we're not married. We just work together...and live together. I mean we are together just not...together." Felicity nervously explained as her and Oliver fumbled around the awkward topic. The silence crept over the group for a moment as the two FBI agents stood watching the two lovers try and explain their relationship status as Diggle chuckled to himself.
"Awesome. It's nice to meet you, excuse us for a moment." Agent Loggins sarcastically began as he and his partner stepped aside.
"Yeah so this isn't our type of job, and I just got word from Agent Hart that he needs our help so." Loggins plainly stated as he checked his watch and made his desire to move on extremely evident. The two agents turned back to the Detective and announced their departure before acknowledging the others.
