Once upon a time
Words I've heard before familiar to this breaking tongue
Words I've heard so many times before to know that some big lie is coming up next.
But listening
My ears wide open, my heart ready to receive the secret meaning that always accompanies the fairytale of these words.

"Once upon a time, there lived a mystic man,
He gave his heart to an ordinary being that had swept him of his feet.
He was singing melodies through his heart and the skip in his step told all those around that he thought he found the one."

Aahh.. Such a sweet story. If only dreams were real I would live a terror in every waking moment because
I have nightmares.
"That man was captured by the wicked witch and his love being of ordinary origin could not do a thing towards the mystic man's aid.
He held captive missed it all. But even imprisonment could not keep word of the outside world from you.
So his lovers death came to his ear.

Yes the mystic man outlived his lover, torn inside he decided to free himself of the wicked witch that held him captive. He broke free and found the world was waiting for him.

He allowed circumstance to take root and his love was forever lost to him..

I never understood the story but when the story teller told me of it all
Once upon a time began his story..
" You see this one didn't have a happy ending but it taught us something." Says the tale teller.

Making me lay in bed at night pondering the teller's words without a clue as to what it all means.
I may never understand, so I close my eyes and I drift away only to nightmares we don't say once upon a time to,
Before they begin.
