Scraped soles and chipped nails
Strands of hair in her eyes and mouth
Clambering onto rough-skinned rocks
Running away from unwanted thoughts
The ocean rolls beneath her feet
With moss, shells, clams and urchins
With a blue so royal she almost cries
The waves dance like her blood beats
Temptations of the siren's song
Mesmerizing what if's, dreams and hopes
To dive down, to drown, to sleep.
She forgets flight is an option, too.
