I slowly walked in the house as he disappeared inside. This is literally my dream home. There were mahogany hard wood floors that went all throughout the lower level. The first thing that you noticed walking in was the double staircase that lead upstairs. To my right was a nicely decorated living room that had a striped theme. And to my left was the kitchen. The cabinets were all white. Beautiful stainless steel appliances and an island dead in the middle in the room. Everything was so clean and neat I didn't want to touch it. But at the same time I was like a kid in the candy store, so I touched everything.
"Up here!!!" Brandon yelled from an upstairs room. I went up the stairs and noticed a few pictures and awards hanging but I didn't pay much attention to who was in the pictures at all.
I found my way to where the voice was coming from to see Brandon dressing a little girl into a cute red Tommy Hilfiger dress and placed some red flip flops in front of her.
"Jhene this is Victoria, my daughter. Say hello Tori." He said to her. She was busy watching her cartoons. "Tori!" He said again after she ignored him the first time.
"Hello Jhene." She said smiling at me.
She was gorgeous. The cutest little girl I have ever seen. Her curly hair was all over the place giving her a sense of identity and her little features were amazingly unique. She looked like a doll. I smiled and leaned down to her level to shake her hand. Brandon had left us alone.
"Hello beautiful!" I introduced myself to her and picked her up and sat her on the bed. Her room was bigger than my whole apartment and had princess everything. She had made a mess with her belongings though. But we'll save that for another time.
I began pulling the hair stuff I had brought out of my purse. I had some hair lotion, edge control and rubber bands. I found a comb and brush then began working my magic. She was a little tender headed but I distracted her from the thought of getting her hair done.
"So what is your favorite color?" I asked her.
"I like pink...a lot! And I like purple and yellow. Ooooo and orange and blue I forgot. Daddy says having a favorite color makes all the other colors sad. Is that true?" She asked me.
"No that's not true. It just means you like one more than the others." I said finishing up on her high bun by pulling out some of her baby hairs. She wanted the same hairstyle that I had, so that is what I did.
"Jhene. Are you in love with my daddy?" She asked me.
I laughed wondering why she would think that. "No, we are just friends. I work for your dad."
She studied my face like DJ does sometimes. "Are you sure...?" She got really close to my face. Literally only a few inches away. "He said you will be living with us now."
"I'm sure. I promise you it's just work. Now put on your flip flops before we both get into trouble by your daddy." I lifted her off the bed and put her next to the shoes.
"Jhene you are pretty and nice like my mommy. I like you." She said smiling. I felt a little bad for her. I know what it is like to lose someone you love, but the sad part is she is only four. Her memories will soon fade and the only things she will have is pictures and a vague image of her mother. Just like DJ would have of his father.
"Thank you sweetheart! Now let's get downstairs. Are you hungry?" I asked.
"I am so hungry I can eat green eggs and ham!" She said dramatically while throwing her hands in the air. I chuckled at her reference to Dr. Seuss.
I went to the kitchen and ended up quickly frying up some fries and chicken tenders. Everything was already thawed out so it didn't take long. A good fifteen minutes.
