Playing Cupid
Chapter One: Meeting The Heartmaker And The Heartbreaker
//////////////////////////////////////
My homecoming is in two weeks, and all are my friends a without a date.
That is not acceptable.
"You can't possibly get all ten of us dates to homecoming, excluding yourself!" My best friend, and the first on my list, Dani exclaimed.
"Yes, I know that my last mash ups, didn't work out," I frown, remembering last Homecoming. "I just didn't predict right okay!"
"Let us take, a poll." Dani says, rolling her eyes. She turns around to face our group of friends. "All in favor in letting, Psy pick our dates, say I." As Dani said this, I unleash the undeniably cute puppy dog face that is only immune to my parents and Dani.
The others groan as they speak I, giving me the jump of accomplishment.
"Thank you guys so much! You won't regret it!" I smile greatly, it seems weird, but the new year seems like a great one. "You know the drill! If your preferences have changed, please contact me!" I smile proudly.
I think I could make my own dating website. I could title it "Psyche of Cupid!" Amazing, right!
"Please don't tell me you are thinking of a dating website again?" Dani groaned. "Psyche of Cupid isn't good!"
"It's a pun." I frown, taking out a dollar out of my wallet. "Go buy yourself some humor." I tuck the dollar bill in her hands as I walk into my next classroom.
"Psy!" My gay best friend, Lucas smiled. I stare at his, beautiful, apron.
"I guess you got here early." I smile. "I would give you a hug, but my apron isn't on."
"Okay, hurry! I want to give you a hug because we be celebrating!" He smirked, holding up a canvas covered with a cloth.
I scurry to the back to see my apron was gone.
"Okay that's weird, I always leave it right here, ok this hook.." I mumble. I glance around the class room to check if someone accidentally grabbed mine.
"Looking for this?" A voice said front the storage room behind me.
"Mr. Dupai!" I frown. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!" The 29 year old teacher smiled a hearty smile, and handed me my apron.
"I decided to wash all of the aprons, as the room was starting to smell, some students seem to eat, while painting. Which leads to Chili and Blue paint." He leans close to my ear, just to whisper. "They do not complement each other." A deep chuckle exits him mouth as the jogs to the front of the class room.
I wouldn't worry about him. That's not unusual behavior from him. But you still shouldn't worry, Mr. Dupai is 100% gay. I quickly place on my apron to run up to Lucas.
"I wish, just wish I was 18." He dreamily stared at Mr. Dupai's butt. "I'm 17, he can wait a year." Lucas smirked.
"Ew, I'll hear about it later, what's the celebration about?" I asked.
"I'm not the only openly gay student in the grade!" He swiftly pulled the cloth off the canvas to reveal a portrait of a boy. "His name is Apollo! Sorta like you, Greek Mythology! And guess what?" He grins.
"What?" I say, laughing a bit.
"He has a straight twin!" He winks at me. "A bad boy, his name is Eros! Like Cupid, like your husband?"
"Not my husband, Psyche's." I smile. "And how do you know all of this? How do you know about the twins?"
"Social media can do great things." Lucas smirked before handing Mr. Dupai his painting. "We aren't going to be partners anymore. I'm with Apollo and you are with Eros. Good? Good." He walks back to the station, leaving me wide mouthed. "Don't try to complain, I already told Mr. Dupai."
Great. Now I'm with a stranger I don't even know.
"Come on Psy! People are going to be entering soon! Get all the good stuff!" Lucas panicked.
"I call the Oil based! Wait, hand me the Copic Markers!" I yell, already starting to plan what I'm drawing. Lucas drops the whole four baskets of Copic Markers and runs away.
I scramble over to my table, as a canvas, blank piece of art paper was set there for choice. I set the canvas aside and grab the art paper and a regular computer paper to sketch.
As I was sitting down, the rest of the class piled in, including the Mythology twins.
"Ah! Boys!" Mr. Dupai smiled. "Welcome to art! Okay, twins, this is gonna be hard. Apollo?" A cute boy raised his hand. He was wearing a short sleeved shirt, and blue jeans. "You are with Lucas!" Lucas softly groaned, and raised his hand. I could tell that that wasn't a, I'm annoyed groan, something more, Lucas style.
"And Eros, ironically you are with Psyche!" I look up to see a boy in a white tee-shirt, and black jeans. He had a flannel tied around his waist, making him oh so obvious.
I raise my hand, tall and proud.
I get to sit next to Eros! Haha! Losers.
I stare across the room to see all the girls staring at him, and all the boys glaring.
"Hello, I'm Psyche." I smile brightly.
"Shut up, I don't care." He said, staring at the front. "Great, you finally got it. I don't care about anything you do. We aren't friends, and we never will be."
"Sorry Cupid, let me guess, you missed a couple?" I smirk. "They didn't fall in love? Even though you hit them with your tiny baby arrows?" Dear god I'm bad at this.
I felt a kick at the back of my chair, showing Lucas. Stop! He mouthed.
I probably should.
Another kick was delivered, but not to me, but to Eros. I stare at Lucas as I watched Eros give his brother the middle finger.
"Wow, rude." I whispered to Lucas.
Look at that! I can see the future. The future of a long ass year.
