Will You?

When it's time to defend your fellow man,

Have you the guts to make a stand?

When someone of another faith or colour skin,

Takes a beating, will you step in?

If intolerance spreads, becomes the norm,

Can you speak out, or will you conform?

Are you strong enough to rail against words of hate?

Or will you leave the weakest to their fate?

Is your conscience strong enough,

Do you possess sufficient guts,

To stand among the righteous few,

Or be bound to bigots as if by glue.

As each victim falls to thugs in the street,

Are you prepared to stand alongside the meek?

Or will you follow the sheep around,

Afraid to hold the high moral ground.

Will you dismiss these words of warning,

As those of paranoid over-caution?

If so, remember ...

Not every German believed the Nazi lie,

But far too many stood idly by.
