Chapter Twenty-Two: How Lovely

Start from the beginning

Ignoring the Christmas greeting from the employees I passed by, I passed all of them and went to the parking lot. When I safely got into my car, I strapped on my seatbelt and drove to Drew’s house. It was extremely hard not to exceed the speed limit when my brain was going crazy like there was a freaking jungle in there.

Pulling up to Drew’s driveway in one piece, I only then realize that I forgot to grab a coat after my mad dash out of my home.

How lovely… not.

Grabbing my purse from the passenger’s side, I braced myself for what to come. Taking a deep breath, I got out and flinched when I realized how cold the winter air really is. I locked my car and sped walk to the Everett’s front porch.

I rang the doorbell and after a few moments, it swung open to reveal Ariel, “Celeste,” she greeted with a smile, “Merry Christmas.”

“Merry Christmas,” I tried to be polite before cutting to the chase, “Where’s Drew?”

“He’s still in bed,” she informed, “I have no idea what time he came home last night. After a few minutes after you dropped him, he just suddenly ran out of the house.”

“I really need to see him,” My voice came out as desperate but frankly, I no longer cared.

She stepped out of my way and opened the front door a little wider, “You can go wake him up if you want.”

When I was safely inside the warm house, I paused for a moment. Waking Drew up meant that I was going to his room, I’m not ready for this.

“You mean me?” I asked in disbelief and she nodded though I can see her lips slightly forming into a smile.

“Just go upstairs, his room is the last door on the right.”

“Me?” I repeated, pointing at myself and her smile turned into a full on proud grin. She didn’t say anything but she only left me alone to contemplate whether I was doing this or not.

I don’t even know what the huge deal is here. I only need to climb up the stairs, walk through the hall up until I’m in front of his door, knock on it and do anything possible to wake him up.

The problem? I have never gone into a boy’s room before. I’m pretty sure this would be extremely awkward.

Taking a deep breath, I slowly climbed up the flight of stairs, my shoes making a sound with every step I take. The upstairs wasn’t anything special, it was just a simple hall that had three doors on each side.

Making my way to the last door and faced the door on the right. I slowly lifted my fist up and knocked three times.

I’m quite forgetting that Drew may be sound asleep on his bed with drool coming out of his mouth.

I reached for the knob and slowly twisted, pushing the door open. Just like what I was thinking, Drew was snuggled up underneath his blankets.

Touching him is definitely going to be dangerous for my heart so I resorted to yelling things at him.

“Drew! Fire!” I screamed causing him to suddenly jolt up and roll from his bed causing him to fall into a heap on the floor.

“What the hell?!” he exclaimed, giving me a murderous look. I gave him a sheepish grin as he tried to compose himself once again.

Once he was safely sitting back on his bed, he let out a yawn, “What are you doing here?”

“We need to talk,” I told him, giving him my most serious look.

He seemed to get my intention as he nodded and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, “Just give me time to fix myself, I’ll be right downstairs in the living room.”

I got out of his room and went to their living room. It was kind of a good thing that he wanted to dress up because I still need to think what I was going to say to him.

‘Oh hey Drew, I was just asking why you kissed me because I want to know whether you like me or not because I’ve been feeling like this for a long time.’ Is not exactly one of the best conversation starters in the world.

A body suddenly sat at the other end of the couch causing my head to snap to its direction.

“So what do you want to talk about?”

Cue awkward silence. I haven’t actually thought this through. How hard was it to say the words, ‘Why did you kiss me?’

The answer, extremely damn hard.

So I just sat here, fidgeting like crazy on my spot as I tried to process something intelligible with my brain.

“Are you going to talk or should I get up and eat breakfast?”

“Why did you kiss me?” I suddenly blurted out. Who knew I could lose myself like that?

He didn’t look like he’s been affected by the question, as if he was already expecting it.

“Please say something,” I almost pleaded after he just stayed there staring at thin space for the past five minutes.

“I hope you weren’t expecting an extremely cheesy answer,” he scoffed, “But can I do something first?”

“What?” I inquired, tilting my head to the side.

He ignored my question and kept talking, “You’re allowed to just stand up and bolt out of this place and never talk to me again.”

Now I was growing slightly concerned, “What are you going to do?” I gulped.

Without any warning, he grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me forward, crashing his lips onto mine.

For the second time, Drew Everett kissed me.

Honestly, I have no idea how to react so I did the only thing my mind told me. I placed my hands on his shoulders and kissed him back. He liked this and pressed me closer to his body.

Who knew Drew had the balls to do this?

Finally pulling away from each other, I just stared at his green eyes as I tried to even breathing.

“I’m giving you five seconds to leave,” he breathed out.

If he grew the confidence then I’m sure I could too. When he started counting down to five, I did something that surprised both him and me.

I pressed my body to him again and kissed him. This time, I was the one who initiated the kiss.

This is one was more intense than the one before. He got rid of any space between us and I have no idea how long we stayed in this position up until somebody cleared her throat.

We reluctantly pulled away and I was pretty sure I was blushing as red as a tomato when I saw Ariel staring there with a big grin on her face.

“I think it’s time for us to eat,” she said as I saw a twinkle of pride in her eyes.

“Yeah, I’m pretty hungry,” Drew cleared his throat, having the guts to send a smirk to my direction.

Let’s just say that I couldn’t get any redder than how I am already.
