Feliciano heard a cluster of girls babbling about one of the new students as he walked towards the stairs on his way to Geometry. This was the fourth time just today he'd listened in on somebody talking about the new kids, and he frankly didn't understand why it was such a big deal in the first place. In his old school, they'd get a new student at least once every couple of months (although to be fair, this school was much smaller than the other one). Supposedly there were eight, but four of them apparently shared the same last name, and two had only been living in America for a couple of months, so not very families must have moved in. His grandpa had telling him that the town needed some new faces, so maybe he already went and tried to meet them. He was the type of guy that would bring snacks over to the new neighbors and offer them to stay over on the same day they moved in, while Feliciano and his brothers liked to stay out of it. He had met one of them though, a quiet Wisconsin boy named Matthew, who also had a brother. Feliciano walked in just before the bell rang and plopped down in his seat. As class started, he could already feel himself drifting off as he looked out the window. Math was easy, at least for him, so he never really payed much attention to the teacher. Absentmindedly he started to sketch on the margins of his paper. Long swirls and 'V' shaped birds covered up some of the words as he tried to look like he was working, even a little. Outside of the school, he watched a woman jog by with her dog trailing behind her and started to draw the Retriever. Feliciano almost fell out of his chair when he heard the bell ring, and quickly tried to shove everything into his backpack. He was thankful he had a study hall next. Maybe he could away with taking a quick nap before Science. When he got into the room he fled to the back corner and laid his head down on his backpack, using it as a makeshift pillow and watched as students started walking in. He saw a new face this time, a girl with wavy shoulder-length dirty blond hair. She was smiling as she walked towards the empty seat that was next to Feliciano, and gave him a small wave as she sat down.
"Mind if I sit here?" She asked, despite the fact she had already taken the spot. Her voice was heavily accented, more than his own, but it seemed to suit her. It sounded kind of cute to him, and if he was going to be honest, she was pretty cute herself.
"Go ahead, Bella," he said with a grin. She gave him a look of surprise and drew back a bit.
"How do you know my name?" She said, slightly on edge. Feliciano was just as confused as her.
"Well, that was Italian," he told her, "But I guess I at least know your name now."
Bella made a little 'hm' sound and pulled her phone from her pocket. "Well if you already know mine, I guess It's your turn to introduce yourself," she said, typing something out.
"Feliciano. I'm sure you've got this question a lot, but you're one of the new kids, right?" He asked as Bella suddenly clicked her phone off and set it on the table.
"Yep! Me and my brother Tim moves in from Amsterdam this past summer,"
"That explains her voice," Feliciano thought to himself.
"That's cool," he said with a smile, "That's a pretty place. I've heard a lot of talk, but I've barley met anybody new," he mentioned. She laughed.
"I'm a little surprised. Especially with loud some of them are."
"You've met them?" He asked, curious.
"Yeah, but I don't them all too well," she admitted. Feliciano shrugged.
"Well it seems like a lot of people are talking about them," he said, quickly adding on, "I mean- nothing bad though!" She laughed again, a little louder and leaned back.
"That's fine. I've heard it all too, but it seems like all the girls here are fawning over the German kids. Especially Ludwig."
Feliciano knew he'd heard that name a couple times before. He had no idea what he was like, but it seemed like he was drawing lots of attention. "You talked to him before?" He asked, hoping he could figure out a little about the guy. "What's he look like?"
"Well," she started, trying to explain, "We didn't really talk. He just told me his name while his older brother did enough talking for all four of them,"
"Four?"
"Yeah, they're all siblings. I guess their parents must've just moved in. Anyways, he's pretty quiet. He's also pretty tall, maybe like 5'8? I don't know, but it's taller than me. And he looks like he plays some kind of sport, Him and his brother are in good shape," she said with a smirk.
No wonder they were talking about him. There weren't many jocks at Gakuen, (well, there were, but their football teams most recent scores said otherwise) so he was sure that people were hoping he'd join the team or something. The two talked for the rest of class, only getting shushed by the teacher a few times. When the bell rang, he slung his backpack over his shoulder, and waited for Bella by the door.
"What class you got next?" She asked.
"Science, you?"
"French," she said, turning to head down the opposite way of Feliciano.
"See you tomorrow then?" He asked with a smile.
"See you tomorrow! Oh, and by the way," she stopped to pull him back, "Thanks for the compliment," She said, and walked away with a wink and a smile.
