Tick. Tok.
Tick. Tok.

The clock goes on for hours as I lay on my stomach. Face to screen, staring at pictures that contain endless memories.

Memories of two best friends since birth.

Memories of how they would run around causing all sorts of trouble.

All of them, having to do with one person.

Him.
Damian Black.

The only person who could truly understand my complex mind.

I let out a deep sigh as my shadow grows, indicating that the sun was lowering in the sky.
Another day.
Another night.

Nothing new, or so I thought.
But as I lay my head on the mountain of pillows on my bed, the noises began.

I'm not entirely sure what they are, but I don't like them one bit.
"Mom?!" I call from the darkness of the night until she opens my door. "What is that..?!"

She smiled calmly while replying, "Nothing to fear, Dear," Though her eyes showed otherwise.
I just nod as she walks out the room.

I lay back down, searching for sleep that never comes.
The noises have only gotten stronger, and I can sense the anxiety in the air.
Jesus..

They were like screeches, some of pain, anger, others of sorrow.
I quickly stand, not being able to sit still, and walk outside. The night is as beautiful as ever - A dark midnight blue dotted with multiple sparkling spots. This calmed me slightly... But the noises continued.

I did my best to ignore them by staring up at the sky, but that soon failed. The sky became black, the stars disappearing one by one while the screeches got louder.

Not knowing what else to do, I clap my hands over my ears and hurry back inside where I spot my mother pacing.

"Mom... What's going on?! What happened to the night sky?? Why is everything black?? And what are those things, screaming?!" I throw a stream of questions at her that she simply dodges by telling me everything will be alright.
Everything will be alright.
I repeat it to myself, laying back on my bed.

I can block out the noise for a few minutes. Just enough to calm down.

But then, other voices join in; One of them in particular rings in my ears.

It seems to trigger something.

An urge to run.

Run away from everything and go back to when I was young.
My past flashed before my eyes as I became stiff.

That voice.. I know that voice..
It must be him.

It has to be!
