"Maddie Gally!" Mrs. Snider screeched. Crap. She ripped the paper away, her face turning red. "Are you cheating?" She screamed. It was obviously a rhetorical question. "Detention!" She yelled, wobbling back to her desk. She slammed my test onto it, and glared at me. "You will report here after the pep rally. Then you will stay for an hour after school." She hissed. The pep rally started right after lunch, and was going to go on for two hours. The bell rang, signaling that lunch had ended. "You may go." Mrs. Snider dismissed me. I quickly went to the heavy door, and slammed it open.

I ran out of there, and I ran away. I kept running, one thought going through my head. 'What will everyone think?' I am considered popular, so what will happen to my rep? I didn't head for the gym, as everyone in the school was, I was heading away from it. Maybe I could go home and say that I didn't feel good. Then I could blow off detention and pretend like none of this happened. I was running into many people, but that didn't slow me down. It made me run faster. But unfortunetly, I ran into my brother, Sam.

He was the star quarter back on our football team, and I was on my way of becoming the head cheer leader. So we were the popular siblings. Every girl wanted to date my brother, and every guy wanted to date me. My brother was a senior, so he was pretty chill and fun.

"Where are you going?" He asked, turning me around. He walked with me to the gym. He kept his arm around me, guiding me.

"I don't feel good." I said, instantly putting my hand on my stomach.

"Really? Because you were running pretty fast for being sick." He chuckled. I sighed, giving up.

"I got detention." I mumbled. He stopped, and looked at me.

"For what?" He exclaimed.

"I was trying to cheat on my science test. I was trying to Google the answer, but my phone rang before I could." I tried to not make eye contact.

"Mrs. Snider, right?" He asked as we walked away from the crowded hallway. We were heading back to The Dungeon.

"No, Sam, no!" I tried to get out of his grasp.

"Don't worry, she loves me." Sam said as we reached the door. He pulled it open effortlessly, and pushed me in. He followed, and the door slammed behind him.

"Madilynn." Mrs. Snider sneered. Then she saw my brother. "Sam! Why, hello!" She exclaimed, leaping out of her chair. She pulled him into a hug, and he winked to me.

"Mrs. Snider! As beautiful as ever!" He winked to her when she pulled away.

"Oh, Sam, you know how to make me blush!" She giggled. My mouth was gaping. He was making Mrs. Snider giggle! "What brings you by my science room?" She asked, smiling.

"Well, it seems like you have given my sister a detention." Sam said, raising his eyebrows. Oh my god. His eyebrow raising was challenging her! It was like waving a faded red flag at a bull. Will the bull charge, or will the bull ignore it? Please, please, ignore it.

"Yes, yes I have. She was trying to cheat on one of my tests. And you know how I feel about cheating." She snapped. Oh no. She was charging.

"But did you actually catch her cheating? Or was her phone just ringing." Sam asked. Mrs. Snider seemed to be pondering it.

"You know, Sam, you have a point. And you know my policy about phones. So the two combined seem to equal two detentions." Mrs. Snider smirked. It was quiet for a moment.

"Thank you for your time." Sam said coldly. I followed him out of the room. As soon as the door was closed, Sam was ranting. "That bitch!" He exclaimed. I gasped. Sam only swore if he was really angry. "How could she give you a detention!" He hissed. The pep rally had probably been going on for twenty minutes.

"Two detentions thanks to you." I crossed my arms across my chest. We had arrived at the gym, so our coversation stopped.

"Walk home after detention." Sam said quickly before he joined his friends. I didn't want to go by mine, because then I'd have to tell them why I wasn't going to ride the bus. So I just hid under the bleachers, waiting for it to end. Then, Josh, came by. Josh was my on and off boyfriend.

"Hey, Maddie, what are you doing here?" He asked.

"Shh. I don't want to.... sit with everyone." I hesitated.

"Why?" He whispered.

"Because." I told him.

Should I tell him the real reason? Or should I lie?

"I'm leaving." I said, because the pep rally had just ended. I walked slowly, making sure that I didn't see anyone that I knew. When the coast was clear, I ran down the hallway. I stopped right infront of Mrs. Snider's room and looked around. No one. I pulled the door open and stepped inside.
