Chapter One

"She needs to sing or this is a waste, Dr," a glass person says.

As Aphrodite got up from the microphone and walked to her easel, she could hear cries of curses from the glass. They always talked about how she should sing, but she never did. And then they got angry if she just walked away. Aphrodite didn't want to sing, after that night. She was only seven at the time, and was scared to death of the glass people.

She rarely saw any faces, only voices. She has given a name to each reoccurring voice.  Him, or the Dr., as most glass people called him, was the one who brought her here. To the Tower. Her Tower, now. Aphrodite liked to call it Jonas, instead of the S Tower, like the glass people did. There was Meep, since she seemed to meep every time someone scared her. Meep was so kind to Aphrodite, saying nice things. Then she was sent out the room's talk area and in came Him, who was annoying. Later, she learned this was called good cop bad cop, all to get her to sing. She heard the lock click on the screen to the talking area, notifying her that she was being a bad child, and got no conversation that day.

The talking area was a little room where a glass person would come in, sit down, and unlock the screen into Aphrodite's room. She rarely ever saw faces, and mainly heard words. The glass person would speak through the screen to her, telling her nice things. Unless it was Him. Him was always talking about needs. "You need to sing" "You need to talk to us" and always "You need to listen!". She hated his visits.

Clink. Her meal was pushed though the slot, and she saw the tips of a pale hand, wearing a pink nail polish. As Aphrodite sat down to eat her pasta, she saw a little package also being slid through the slot. She got up, and grabbed it, saying a quiet " T-thanks..." to the one-way glass. She heard murmurs of complements to her manners, and perked up a bit.

"She better like this," groused Him "It's  from a siren-ware trader."

As she slowly ate her meal, Aphrodite started to think about what a siren was. Looking over at her bookshelves, then thought of those myth books, and she figured that a siren might be in there. So, after she finished her meal, she went over and pulled out all the myth books. The glass people seems overjoyed she finally picked one of those books up, and she heard expressions of delight. She flipped through the first book, and after finding a page about sirens, she read it quickly, and opened the next book.

She then opened all the other books to the siren pages, and grabbed some paper and a pencil, and scribbled down all the useful facts she found. She promptly organized all her info into categories: powers, looks, kingdom facts, and so on.

She didn't even realize that she was making a diagram drawing from all the facts until she looked at her pencil, which was moving by itself, all by magic. Turning around, she looked up at the one way glass, and then continued to "write".

So, she got up and looked at the diagram, and then the pencil started to draw a picture. The pencil erased and drew quickly to keep up with what she was thinking. Aphrodite quickly grabbed the finished art and taped it on her wall, near the easel. It was of an older version of herself, decked out in a gold and green dress, complete with huge green and gold accessories (the kingdom royal colors) She then decided she was going to draw more, and started drawing on her easel, completely forgetting about the package on the table.
