A wise man once told a little girl that never in a million times can we ask our hearts what to feel. It hates when it hates. It loves when it loves. It hurts when it hurts. It feels joy when it feels joy.
But the little girl could never afford to agree. She challenged the wise man and it all came down to a bet : the moment the girl finds love and makes sure he is the one, she is to ask her heart to break his lover's heart and teach her heart to learn not to love him anymore.
"Wicked," a voice whispered in my ear. I don't have to face him to know who he was. I have known Kim Donghyuk since childhood so it isn't impossible for me to familiarize his voice. "You're writing some weird stories again. Ever planning of changing your boring lifestyle?"
"Uhh... No?" I replied and went back to what I was doing.
"Eunjin-ah, I've been your bestfriend since the beginning of time and I haven't heard nor seen you crying because somebody broke your heart. You haven't had any boyfriend. You may have crushes but they're all fictional characters of the books you've read."
I momentarily stopped typing, adjusted my glasses and stared at him with a questioning look. "Uh-huh. So your point is?"
"My point is... Why do you keep on torturing your characters in your stories? I've never seen you write something... something funny or romantic. You always let them suffer."
Hyuk's response took me by surprise. He has never been supportive on what I do so it's quite amusing to find him react about it. It somehow makes me feel that he cared.
"And I... have never thought you're interested in my stories. I thought you don't like reading 'em."
"I don't like reading them, yes. But that doesn't mean I don't actually read them."
"What? You're weird. Why don't you get us some coffee. I waited long for you."
"Fine."
As soon as he left to order coffee at the counter, I returned to face what I have written so far. My fingers ran smoothly on the keyboard and put my thoughts into words.
The little girl accepted and waited until love finds her.
I saved the document before shutting my laptop down. By the time I removed my things from the table, Hyuk came back with a tray. I asked him to order coffee but he bought whatever pleased his eyes again.
"You're such a glutton, Kim Donghyuk-ssi" I scowled. I took my coffee with my both hands and started to drink it slowly.
"Uh-huh. And maybe that's the reason why you love me" I nearly choked. Why, he's always full of himself.
"You wish, asshole!" I gave him a soft punch and before we knew it, we were already laughing out loud.
"What.the.ffuucckk.." I was just laughing my ass off a few minutes ago and the next thing I knew, a ball hit me with such a great timing. The coffee spilled all over my face and dress. Just wow. I'm quite sure I look too wasted anybody might mistook me for a garbage can.
Hyuk helped me dry myself with a tissue. I glanced through the coffee shop to find the culprit and my eyes led me to a group of egotistical and dickheaded guys who happened to be the varsity players of our school. They were laughing so hard.
I didn't waste my time. I picked up the ball and started taking steps toward them. As soon as our eyes met, I gave him a murderous look.
"Yah! You idiot!" I called him, and the idiot feigned ignorance. He looked sideways and behind like he doesn't know I was pertaining to him. God forgive me I might really kill this stupid.
My grip on the ball tightened and the moment he turned to face me, I threw the ball as hard as I can. BULL's EYE. His coffee spilled on his face too. Now were even.
"Whhhaattt the....." he looked at me like he's gonna strangle me. But I am Song Eunjin. Those looks could never kill me.
I smirked and walked out.
