It was the engagement ceremony of Manvi's brother, Dhanush. A lot was said about his prospects of securing a good bride in the social circles of the city, since their elder sister Mansi's marriage has collapsed in less than two years.

But, as fate has it, contrary to everybody's expectations, the biggest business tycoon in Chandigarh Tej Singh Vadera and his wife Vanshika had personally come to their home two weeks ago asking for Dhanush's hand for their daughter, Pooja.

Manvi's Mom was ecstatic and why wouldn't she be? It was a match every mother would die to have for her son. Tej Singh Vadera ran a successful international business. Not only did their family have wealth, but they had name and good will in the society. People respected and looked up to them. Their daughter, Pooja was a beautiful and educated girl.

A beautifully decked Manvi in a Lavender lehenga choli was running around happily in her brother's ceremony when she dashes into Vanshika in the corridor.

"I am so sorry Aunty..." she apologized.

"Its okay beta." she just smiles at her sweetly. "Manvi right?" she asks.

"Yeah aunty..." Manvi looks at her embarrassed. "I am sorry...Ma was fussing over not having these roses in the pooja, that is why....I usually don't run like this..." she mutters.

Vanshika just stares at her as if studying her face. "Are you still studying Manvi?" she asks.

"Yeah...I will be done with third year of medicine next month, Aunty." Manvi smiles. "I am so sorry again." Manvi apologizes.

"No problem. You mom must be waiting for those." Vanshika reminds her pointing at the flowers.

"Yeah!" Manvi smiles and runs away.

Through out the engagement ceremony Manvi could see that Vanshika was stealing glances at her.

"She must be really mad at me." she mutters to her sister Mansi hiding her face with her hand.

"Who?" Mansi asks.

"Pooja's Mom!" Manvi sighs and explains how she dashed into her in the morning. "If she cancels the ceremony because of me, Dad will disown me. Not that I don't run into enough trouble with him already." Manvi despairs.

"I know that look." Mansi smiles, figuring out why Vanshika was looking at them.

"What do you mean?" Manvi asks.

"That's the look of a prospective mother in law checking out her bahu." Mansi whispers coolly.

"Why?" Manvi stares at her.

"What do you mean why, you idiot? She has another son." Mansi points to a handsome young man greeting the guests at the entrance.

Manvi just gapes at Mansi and the guy in question.

As Mansi has predicted, right after the engagement ceremony, Vanshika and Tej Singh Vadera come to have a word with Manvi's Mom and Dad. Mansi comes out of the locked room as Manvi was peeking behind the door trying to get some information of what was going on.

"WHAT?" she looks scared at Mansi.

"Your sister is a genius!" Mansi tells her proudly.

"REALLY? Di, I am still studying! I cannot get married now!!!"

"That's what I said when they wanted me to get married to Shankar at 19! Nobody listens to you!!!" Mansi tells her like a little kid.

"But Di!!!"
