He had never heard a scream like that in his entire life. The disgusting sound of a drill going through bone and flesh was...even he couldn't describe it. Papyrus was yelling from across the room, begging the shell of their father to stop. Sans couldn't believe he'd turned to this. The humans held down there screamed and yelled at Gaster as he made them all watch another human become his possession. Sans had actually been stupid enough to become friends with her. She was small, smaller than him and most of the people down here, and despite being incredibly malnourished, she'd managed to remain a little chubbier than the others. Either that, or she was as big-boned as him.
Sans pushed past his cellmates and regrettably stole a look at the bloodstained slab of metal where Gaster did his work. There was the human girl, strapped down to the operating table where yet another handplate was drilled into her hand. Everyone down here had one, but only a few survived the night due to infection and sickness. He actually liked this kid out of a large portion of people stuck down here. Some went insane or became cold and numb to any sort of kindness from another person.
Gaster mostly took adult males while a few were only eighteen or so. Recently, he'd started taking female and male teenagers and younger children. It was as if his sick morals had worsened. Sans wasn't able to do anything about it. His father had stopped listening to his family.
Sans watched in relief and horror as Gaster finished with the last screw. The kid was mewling and crying hysterically as the monster's slender hands delicately skimmed over the plate. An (I/N) was carved onto it along with a small code under it: TK421.
Gaster opened the door to Sans's cell, roughly carrying the girl inside. The humans scurried to the back of the cage as he set her down on her feet. Her hand hung limp, being too heavy to hold up any longer. She tried to stand normally as Gaster closed the door, but her knees gave out and she stumbled to the floor. The humans watched her breathlessly as she cried out from the handplate banging onto the cold floor. It rang out as Gaster left the room and shut the lights off. The only source of light was the glow from the magical bars of the cage.
Sans cautiously made his way over to her as the humans didn't dare make a move. The girl was curled up on the floor as her hand bled profusely over the cold tiles of the torture room. She shook from the temperature and shock of what had occurred just moments ago.
"Kid?"
The teenager's eyes flickered open for a moment before they drooped shut again. She breathed unevenly and slowly. "Stay with me, kid." Sans urged her as he carefully picked her up off the ground.
She panicked for a split second before she saw a familiar face. It was her friend, the magical skeleton. "S-Skeleton...with the..jokes.." The girl said to him as he cradled her in his bony arms like a baby.
Sans chuckled softly at her remembrance. She could feel the thrum of the laugh against his chest, vibrating pleasantly as it echoed through his bones. "I'm Sans. Sans the Skeleton." He introduced himself.
"Sans?..." The girl questioned weakly.
"Yeah," he continued, grinning. "like Comic Sans."
That earned him a tiny laugh. "How about you, little buddy?"
"(F/N)..(F/L).."
"'Better than my name any day." Sans chuckled again.
"No...y-yours is better..."
The skeleton laughed again. This was the only human that really ever talked to him. Most of the adults down here were still convinced that monsters were bad.
"How old are you, (N/N)?" He asked, humorously using her clipped sentence as a nickname.
"(Y/A)..."
