Chapter 4: The New Girl

The first week went fast. After Violea had apologised to Patricia she wasn't allowed back into the popular group. Her grades then started to rise and she didn't sleep in class anymore. They were all happy but then Patricia went on holiday and wasn't coming back until next
year.

Sally was devastated.

"Why do you have to go?" Sally asked.

"Because my dad got a job in Melbourne," she replied "but we can still Skype each other."

"But still why can't you stay here in Adelaide?"

"Yeah because we all board here. Right?" Violea asked.

"Well, because ..." Patricia went on to say "I might be living there forever."

"What but you can't do that your my friend. We are friends," Sally said quickly.

"Sally that is life. We'll have to get on without her," Violea proclaimed.

"But.."

"No buts. I'll be back before you know it," Patricia said "but I'll miss you."

"Fine."

"Um," Violea said.

"Um what Violea," Patricia replied.

"I will miss you."

They hugged each other.

Patricia left at the end of the term. It was beginning of Term 2 and Sally was quite upset.

"I miss Patricia," she grumbled.

"It's alright Sally she'll be back soon," Violea replied.

When they arrived at class there was a new girl there and she was doing magic with her voice. No one could do magic in their class by voice command.

This was amazing.

"Who is she?" Sally asked.

"I don't know. Lets go ask her," Violea answered.

"OK. Wait. No."

But it was too late they were already there.

"Hi," Violea said "I'm Violea. What is your name?"

"Oh. Hi I'm Clara," the girl said.

"Alright. Hi Clara. This Sally. Say hi Sally."

"Hi," Sally answered.

"She is a bit shy," Violea whispered to Clara.

"No I'm not. Seriously,"

"Seriously," Violea said mimicking Sally.

Sally looked at Violea.

"Why do like mimicking me?" Sally asked.

"Because I like your reaction afterwards."

"OK. Wait that's not fair."

Clara giggled.

"You girls are funny,'' she said.

"Alright. Do you want to sit with us?" Sally asked.

"Yes, I would. It's just I already been asked to sit with those girls," she pointed at the popular girls.

"No you can't!" they both replied.

"Sorry" Sally said "but once they ask you to sit with them your a popular girl and your grades start falling"

"Oh, alright then I guess I'll sit with you then."

"Good," Violea said.
