Sounds of water pelted the window. The sky was filled with ominous grey clouds. The streets were flooded with water, waiting to drown its next victim. Then, there was a knock at the door.
"Sweetie... Are you awake?" said the voice. Nothing could be heard but the sound of the rain. The door slowly opened as a figure walked in. The room was dark, but in the center of the room lay a girl peacefully sleeping in her bed. " I thought I told her to set this alarm. " The figure walked across the room and picked up the digital alarm clock that rested on the dresser. At the push of a button, it immediately began to ring alerting the young girl.
"GAH!" Wynter fell out of bed and let out an oof as she hit the floor. The rain began to slow down a little.
"Oh! Sorry sweetie, I didn't mean to do that" said her mother. Wynter had to take a minute to wake up before she responded.
"What did I do that was so wrong, you had to wake me up on a Saturday?" Wynter said half asleep. The rain began to pick back up and there was a sound of thunder outside.
"Young lady we have somewhere to be today, don't you remember?" Wynter rolled her eyes.
"But mom it's raining. Can't we just, skip it? Then maybe go next Saturday.. or not at all?" Wynter sat on the side of her bed. The rain once again became weaker.
"Absolutely not. This'll be good for you Wynter. Plus, I already told them you were going" replied her mother a little upset. It was now 8:12, Wynter sighed looking up at her mother.
"Please don't make me go"
Her mother smiled, almost amused by her daughter's attempt to let her stay home.
"Get dressed dear. We're leaving at 8:30" her mother said as she walked out of the room. The rain had completely stopped, and the sun began to peek it's way through the clouds. Wynter stood up and blew the hair out of her face. She looked down at her cellphone and saw it was 8:17. Her eyes widened and she ran to the bathroom, with not too much time left.
