"FOR THE LAST TIME HAMILTON WOULD YOU SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP? ITS ALMOST AS IF YOU ENJOY HEARING YOURSELF TALK!"
"I could say the same for you Jefferson." Alexandra Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were at each others throats again, not to anyone's surprise, of course. This was the typical routine in Introduction to Debate at their prep school. It didn't mean everyone enjoyed it however. Many wished they'd get in another fight and get sent out of the room as had happened so often in recent classes. The average person would have about as many demerits in their whole time at the school as Hamilton had gotten in her first week. Her continuous "fight me" attitude had gotten her sent to the Dean's office more times than should have been humanly possible.
"You didn't hit him today cher I would consider that a victory." Lafayette chips in as they exit the classroom and make their way to their lockers to get their books for after lunch.
"Doesn't mean I didn't want to. I was seriously considering it. If Professor Washington hadn't told me yesterday that I was being considered for a leadership role in the debate club, I would've already been over that table and strangling Jefferson. I think that would have made a terrible impression." She explains, saying the last part with a grin.
"Yeah well I think that would have been more interesting than whatever the hell you were just talking about. I could've killed myself. I was bored out of my mind. Actually, I think I already died, Laf check my pulse." Hercules says from besides Alexandra. She shoves him, but he doesn't budge.
"Herc, that discussion was vital for the running of our country, thank you very much. If the nation wishes to survive, there needs to be economic changes made so that we can diminish the nation's debt. If we don't, I fear that the nation will retrogress back to its former state. Weak and grudgingly dependent upon the tyranny of the British. Though I do believe the British model of government is one of the best the world has seen, it is without a doubt corrupted by the men in charge. But imagine, a government based off of the policies that the British have decided on. A smooth economy, good income. It's a masterpiece." Alex rants, not noticing the eye rolls exchanged by the two friends by her sides. They had grown used to her long tirades, of course and usually just sat and did homework or goofed off on their laptops or phones or even had a full blown game of some sort going on right under her nose as she droned on about economic and government policy.
"Of course Alexander but let's leave that for Debate, yes?" Lafayette said. They all called her Alexander, due to her demeanor in debate, giving off the same vibes as some of the best leaders in the nation whom she emulated so strongly; also, in part, because she hated the name Alexandra. She would much rather go in jeans and a t-shirt of some sort than be associated with the snobby, stuck up preppy girls at the school, dressed like fake royalty and smelling strongly of perfume. So Alexander it was.
"Alexander."
"Aaron Burr, sir."
"Mr. Adams wants to see you in the office. Like, now. He said its important." Aaron Burr, yet another friend or should it be said "friend" of Alexander's. The two had always had a sort of competitive streak, as Aaron thought Alexander was given all the jobs he thought he should get for himself. Likewise, Alexander felt that many of the jobs Aaron was given were given to him due to sheer charm, as you see, she believed he never took a stand for anything he believed in. Indeed, he would much rather stand to the side and see the events unfold in front of him. Despite this, however, they were extremely close and would talk and joke around for hours if given the chance. It was mostly when it came time to debate that the claws would come out.
"I didn't do anything this time! I didn't even threaten him!" Alexander exclaims incredulously.
"Mon ami, that is not exactly true. You did tell him to shove his beliefs where, how do you say- 'the sun does not shine', oui?" Lafayette corrects while Herc snickers besides him.
"Oh. Right. But that's all I said! It's not even the worst thing I've ever done."
"Alexander- "
"I mean I could have launched myself at him like I did last time, or I could have thrown the pencil holder at him like that time two weeks ago."
"Alexander- "
"I didn't cause any bodily harm; therefore, he went away scot-free."
"Alexander, please. I don't know why he wants to see you, but I'm fairly certain it's not about Intro to Debate. He didn't seem angry for once." Aaron says, finally managing to get her to stop talking, which is a feat in and of itself.
"Oh, well then, I guess I better go. See you guys at lunch if I get out in time. If not, I'll see you in Chem." She waves and follows Aaron to the building where the Dean's office is located.
"So it's not about Debate?"
"I don't know. Didn't seem like it."
"Well, it can't be all that bad, then."
"Nope probably not. Though knowing you, could've found a different way to piss him off." Aaron laughs as he opens the door for the two of them. Alex grins and rolls her eyes. "Your fate awaits you." He jokes as he walks away from her to the Library.
"Yes it does."
"Tell me the verdict in AP Lang, alright?" Aaron says. Alex nods and takes a deep breath before opening Dean Adams' door.
