I grabbed a clear glass out of the cabinet and poured myself a cup if milk. I sat at the table and skimmed through my phone. No texts, no nothing. Of course. Snowball jumped onto my lap and got on the table, trying to stick her head into my milk. I swiped her away and put my empty glass in the sink.
I was laying down on the couch when I heard my dad come through the front door, along with a slam, and stomp up the stairs. I flinched when the door slammed, and creeped to the kitchen, looking up the stairs. His door was shut and I could already hear the hard, metal music playing. I hated it. I preferred Taylor swift or any kid of piano.
To pass the time, I grabbed a book off the shelf and shuffled over to the old chair that had a few cigarette ashes on it, because of my dad when he used to smoke. I flicked a few specks off of the chair and flopped down into the chair and opened the book. After reading a few pages I drifted off to sleep.
My eyes fluttered open and I sat up a little, examining the room I was in. I noticed a purple, fluffy blanket was draped over my body. My mom must be home then, because she's the only one in the family that would actually care to do it. I throw the blanket across the back of the couch and get up, the chair rocking back and forth.
I stepped in the kitchen where my mom was fixing dinner. She smiled sweetly.
"Glad your awake, hon. Feed the cat for me? By the time your done dinner should be ready." She said, turning back to the sizzling steak.
"Yeah okay." I said.
I dragged myself to the fridge and pulled pulled both doors open. I opened the drawr and pulled out the cat food, carrying it to the bathroom where my cat ate. I pulled the blue cap off and scooped 2 spoonfuls into the bowl. She was meowing like a crazy person until I set the bowl down and she slammed her face into it, devouring every last bite.
I shook my head and flicked the light off. I walked back into the kitchen just as my mom was setting the plates down at the table.
"You can go ahead and eat. Your dad and your sister are sleeping."
I nodded and sat down, enjoying the hot meal in front of me. I placed my plate into the sink full of bubbles and I kissed my mom goodnight and headed up the steps. It felt like it had been centuries since I got to the top step. I glanced at my sisters closed bedroom door and stepped inside my room. I locked the door, not wanting to be bothered. I sat down on the bed and heard my phone vibrate.
I scrambled through my bag, looking for my phone and finally grasped it and pulled it out of the sea of textbooks. I unlocked it and checked the text. It was from a strange number that I had never seen before.
"Hey! It's Tyler. No I'm not a stalker! I got your number from Janice."
I rolled my eyes. Janice was my old best friend, until she started attracting drama and I was always stuck in the middle of it somehow. We didnt really hang out much after that. Then finally we stopped texting and talking and hanging out. I was surprised she still had my number. I replied with a simple "okay." And told him I was going to bed. I crawled under the velvet sheets, not bothering to dress in any pj's. I closed my eyes and I thought about his icy blue eyes and the way he looked at me...
