The next day after Scarlet left, Kathleen went back to the forest had her first kiss with Will. As she is walking towards the forest, the slaves man sees her walking. He jumps on his horse and rides towards her. Kathleen gets startled and jumps, the slaves man grabs Kathleen by the arm and pulls her to the field. He took Kathleen to where no slave wanted to go, he took to the pole and rope. He took Kathleen and she starts squirming and yelling for Will. Will comes running. He stares, but doesn't do anything. She looks at him like he is a person about to commit murder. Will looks at her with a sadly look, a loving look. He looks and turns away. The slave man pulls Kathleen's shirt up and pulls the whip back and licks her 10 times. Kathleen crying in pain and sorrow. Kathleen went to the house and had the other slaves clean the cuts.
