I get home to an empty house. Being out with Dave was really fun and took my mind off of mom for a while. Her stupid note. Her stupid boyfriends. Her stupid life style.
Why does she have to have a different boyfriend every week. And sleep with every one of them.  She must know that August and I know. I guess she doesn't care.
Like that's new. But she hasn't given is up for adoption so, I guess that's love.
Speaking of love. Dave and I chatted and had coffee for 2 hours. It was crazy. He is really nice and we are like the same person. I wonder how far this is going to go.
I heat up some frozen pizza for the two of us since mom won't be home. Although she is not a good mom, she is like a world class cook.
While I'm working on some algebra, August walks in.
"Where have you been young man?" I say pretending to be a upset with him.
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
"Darcy?" I ask knowingly.
"We went to her house... And yeah."
"And that's all you did, correct," I say now serious.
"Yes Mom."
August cannot, cannot, become a father. He cannot follow in Moms footsteps. I'm not allowing another child to not know their father or for my brother to have all of that. He's  14.
"Is she..." He makes vague hand gestures but I get the point.
"Yeah. I'll have dinner ready at seven." I say curtly.
Nodding Auggie goes off to do his homework. I hope.
Lugging my textbook out of my bag, I brace myself for math.

We scrape up the remains of pesto chicken in silence.
Auggie glances at me but sees I've made eye contact and continues staring at his empty plate.
"So... How's Tim and Carl?"
"Carl's moving," he reptiles.
"What?! But you and Carl have been friends since like 2nd grade!"
"I have Tim. And Darcy. And others."
I look into his eyes, "A close friend moving is a big deal. Where is he moving?"
"Indiana."
How does August not look devastated. Or at least have some emotion.
"Are you sad?"
He just shrugs while he picks a piece of spinach from his toothpaste commercial white teeth.
I pass him a toothpick to aid his cleaning process.
"Okay Mr. Emotional," I tease.
He sneers in return.
"There's that emotion! Even if it's disgust."
August couldn't help but laugh.
Soon were both laughing uncontrollably.
"I hate to break this up but we have school tomorrow."
He groans but reluctantly washes his plate.
"At least you can see Darcy," I add trying to be positive.
His face brightens up a little. "Yeah..."
"See, good things!"
Auggie rolls his eyes and heads to his room.
After tidying up I go to my room.
"So we meet again," I say as I walk into the bathroom and see August brushing his teeth. I join him on our double sink counter. He finishes first but waits.
"Wha ooh waing fo?" I ask while still brushing my teeth.
"I have to pee," he says.
I spit quickly and I almost leave but I notice he looks different.
"Are you okay?" His face is 3 shades paler than usual and his eyes are glassy. I put my hand to his forehead and he is clammy.
"Are you sick? I think you're sick. Here take some Airborne. And a glass of water. Magen you shouldn't go to school tomorrow."
"I'm--im fine," August mumbles. I know realize he is congested as well.
"Sorry Aug. No school for you."
"I still have to pee."
I smile and leave so he can relive himself in peace.
