This morning was not off to a great start.
I'd already been lectured by my parents about how this is my final semester of High School and how I should just keep my head down and work. And then I had to sit through the most boring Geography class ever with Mrs Lane since Ruby only decided to show up half way through 2nd period.
But that lesson was great especially since I got 100% in the last test we did and plus I had at least two of my friends there.
Tom and I have known each other since I was around 10. His mum used to work with mine and so we usually met up every weekend. He's always been a rather funny guy but that's only after he opens up to you, otherwise he seems quite tough- even at 10 years old.
As I made my way to the cafeteria I noticed an absurd amount of yellow and pink flyers going up.
"Wow already? I swear it's like 3 months away!", I can't believe flyers are going up of prom, I mean I get its senior prom but we still have some more exams to pass before we even think about shit like that.
"I do hope you don't swear miss Jordans but a lot of planning goes into this so we need a committee fast! I should think you'll be joining us as we need your brains for ticketing and funds!" I immediately spun round at this. Why the hell would I want to join the prom committee?!
"I thought only seniors could be on the committee and since I'm not really a seni-" I was cut off by a very stern looking Madame Trimble peering at me over her glasses.
"Sydney Amelia Jordans you are in the senior year because you are smart enough to be one, if not smarter!" she added after seeing Poppy and her entourage approaching. "Therefore you are a senior"
I soon left giving nothing more than a smirk and a nod trying to avoid eye contact with Poppy and made my way to the cafeteria.
"Ruby what dress do you think will match a pair of converse trainers? NONE! Urrrgggghhhh!" I've never seen Penelope so pissed in my entire life.
"Here Penelope, have some snickers, you're not you when you're hungry." We all immediately burst out laughing at this, I even see Pea smile through her anger.
"Seriously though why are you fussing about this know?" Clearly Tom had more sense in him than the other lunatics round here, not including Pea.
"Becau-"
"Because it's the only time I'll agree to wearing a dress in public" Ruby finished for her.
It's true I guess. In all the time I've known Ruby (since the start of senior year) I've never seen her wear a dress. She's always worn a tank and ¾ length jeans with her all stars.
"Diva alert, 4 o' clock." Dominic warns us whilst taking his seat next to Lucia sharing a quick kiss.
Lucia and Dom have been going out since Junior year and are the cutest couple I've ever met. They are like each others shadows, but not in an obsessive and possessive way like some people round here.
"Ok peasants listen up!". I already felt like spitting on her. "I don't want any of you idiots taking my crown. This is MY senior prom and if ANY of you take that from me you won't live to see graduation. That goes for you too boys... Zach and I are going to win whether your surname is King or not." She immediately turned to look at Jacob who just chuckled.
She walked round to my side of the table, put her manly hand on my shoulder and said, "especially you, Junior." And before you know it I find myself covered in my strawberry milkshake.
"That son of a-" I was instantly pulled back to my seat by Penelope who failed miserably at hiding her wrath for Poppy with a smile.
I watched her take her place at the Royal table and sit next to the King or the devil himself, Ryan Damen before eating his face off.
"Ryan Damen, lucky guy." We all stare at Tom in disgust as he fantasizes over Poppy Jenkins.
"More like Ryan Demon. Last week I saw him kick this poor Freshman in the corridor just for playing a video game and said ' you should learn how to kick some balls too'" Lucia is very sensitive so if anyone is upset she'll will feel guilty even if it has nothing to do with her.
But my main worry was about Ruby. She hasn't spoken a word since she got to school and especially since she came late. "Ruby are you ok?"
"Let's just get you cleaned up." She ignored me. Something must be really wrong but clearly she's not in the mood to speak.
