The loud alarm blared through the Glade. Everyone knew what it meant. Another boy would be coming into the midst of all the others.
Newt ran with Gally to the centre of the glade, to the box. The two boys pulled the rusty iron doors to the box open and Newt lightly jumped into the dark, square hole. "Who's the shank this time Newt?" a boy yelled out. Ready for his normal speech of the usual "Welcome to the Glade, this is where you'll be living" and such, he stopped. "Well? Who is it?"
"It's a girl." Newt stammered, in shock.
Telling everyone to hush up over the catcalls and excited shouts, he finished. "And not just that, she's a little girl. She looks about six."
