Chapter 16
[Edited]
"My parents aren't home, they're working 'till 10 PM" Taylor said as we both stepped out of the car, and closed the car door shut
"Alrighty. I forgot to call my mom, I'll be in there in a few minutes" I told Taylor
She nodded and opened the front door with her keys, and once she got it open, she went inside.
I sighed and took my phone out of my pocket.
Once my phone was in my hand, I dialed my mom's number, and waited 'till she answered.
"Hello?" My mom answered through the phone
"Hey mom.. I won't be able to spend time with Jeffery today...." I said nervously
"What? Why?" She asked
"I'm at Taylor's house right now.. We're umm... We have a project to work on together.. Can you tell Jeffery I'm sorry, and the reason why?" I asked
Through the phone, I heard my mom sigh. "Alright sweety... Be safe and make sure you get some work done" My mom said
"Of course mom. I'll see you later, bye" I said before hanging up
I turned off my phone and sighed heavily.
Why do I feel so bad for doing this to him?
He's been wanting to do this ever since he came back, and everytime he tried, I kept pushing him away.
I shook those thoughts out of my head, and walked into the house of Taylor's.
Once I was inside the house, I closed the front door, and quickly ran upstairs to go into Taylor's room.
When I was inside the room, I find Taylor sitting down on her bean bag, patiently waiting for me as she goes through her phone.
The sound of my school bag dropping on the floor, caught Taylor's attention, which made her head snap up to my direction.
She turned off her phone and placed it on the floor, beside the bean bag.
I took off my shoes and placed it near her shoe rack.
I walked towards the other bean bag that was in front of her, and took a seat.
"Talk to me" Taylor calmly said
You see, this is one thing I love about Taylor.
She's always there for me, and always makes sure I'm okay.
She's always there to listen to my pointless drama, and always understands me.
She's not the type of person to judge me easily. She always talks to me first.
She's like my own personal counselor.
She trusts me as much as I trust her.
I sighed and began talking..
"My dad's back" I said
She nodded. "I know that. How're you feeling?" She asked
"I don't know Tay" I said and ran a hand through my hair
"You do know" She said as she stared into my eyes
"I feel... Mad.. Sad.. Confused?" I said honestly
"Okay.. See, you're naming what you're feeling" She said
"I don't want to feel. He's already put my mother and I through so much heartbreak" I replied
"Numbing the pain will only make it worse once you start feeling again" She told me
(That is not my quote, I saw this somewhere on tumblr)
"You're right... I know I shouldn't be ignoring these feelings, but I'm just so tired of it, you know?" I asked. Hoping she'd understand where I'm coming from
"I know Carrie" She said
"Tell me the reasons why you feel this way" She said
"Well... It makes me mad when I see his face. I hate thinking that my own father, betrayed me and my mom. I hate knowing that he went to another woman, created another baby, and totally forgot that he had another family of his own. I hate knowing that he was the reason for all my mother's tears. I just feel so angry towards him because of all the damage that he has done" I said honestly as I glared at the wall behind Tayor
"Why do you feel sad?" She asked
"He's back.. I don't want him back.. I was totally fine without him. But now that he's back, and this is the first time seeing him, it makes me sad because this IS my first time seeing him, after everything. Sad to know that he's the reason for all that has been broken. Sad to see his face. Sad to see the face of the person who left me" I said and wiped a tear that slowly dripped from my left eye
"All these emotions that I feel towards him, confuse me" I said
"How does it confuse you? You just named your feelings, and gave them reasons. You're not confused" She told me
"He's the reason why I don't believe in love. He's the reason why I'm afraid to fall in love, because I'm afraid of people leaving me for someone better" I said honestly as I looked down with a frown
"Carrie, look at me" Taylor demanded
I picked my head up, and looked at her.
"You're not afraid to fall in love. You're afraid of being betrayed, you're afraid of people leaving you for someone better, you're afraid of rejection. You're not afraid of love. Never confuse love with all that negativity, because honestly, love is the best feeling you could ever get. And maybe, just maybe, love could also be the reason to what's holding you together, not to what's tearing you apart" Taylor said calmly, staring straight into my eyes as she said each word
