Chapter 5 - We Don't Deserve This
I stiffened as the word 'dad' came out of her mouth
I'm not used to getting stuff from my biological father. As you can see, I'm not used to calling him my 'dad'. That's only because I don't think of him as a dad, anymore.
"W-what?" I asked, stuttering
My mom sighed. "He sent me a note 2 days ago" She said
I looked down at my un-finished dinner. "W-what did it s-say?" I stuttered while using my fork to play around with the food on my dinner plate
My mom shifted in her seat, and I didn't bother to look up.
I felt my mom shake my arm a little, and I looked up.
My mom was holding out a letter, waiting for me to get it from her hand.
I sucked in a deep breath before grabbing it and taking it out of her hand.
I slowly began opening it, peeling off the tape and taking out the letter that's inside the envelope.
I let out a shaky breath before opening the letter and continue to read the letter.
Dear Catie, and Carrie,
I am so sorry that I left both of you when you needed me the most. I am sorry that I have left Carrie when she needed a father. I am sorry that I have left Catie when she needed someone to be there by her side through everything. I am sorry that I missed out on Carrie's life. I'm sorry that I chose Katherine instead of both of you. All I'm asking for is another chance. Can I please have one? I don't want to miss anymore years from Carrie's life. And I sure as hell don't want to miss the chance of being a father. Please reply as soon as you made your decision.
Sincerely, Jeffery Black
I closed my eyes and took deep breathes, trying to calm myself down.
I put the letter down and kept my head hung low as I continued taking deep breathes.
A few seconds after trying to calm myself down, I looked up to look at my mom who stared at me with sad eyes.
"D-did you reply?" I asked shakily
My mom sighed, but nodded.
"What did you say?" I asked through gritted teeth
"I-I said yes.. That we would give him another chance" She said softly
I let out a breath and clenched my jaw.
"Are you serious mom? After everything he's done to us? After all the pain he let us go through? After he married another woman instead of you? You give him another chance?" I asked through gritted teeth
"Everyone deserves a second chance sweetie" My mom said calmly
"But not him! He had A LOT of chances to fix the mistakes he has made. He had A LOT of chances to come back and try to get us back. But he took NONE of them. The only time he wants us back is when he got a divorce with Katherine. Mom, can't you see? You're just an option to him, you're just a second chance to him. You're his backup plan. And I'm telling you now mom, he isn't worth it. You worth more than the things he think of you as. You don't deserve a man like him. We don't deserve this" I said and stood up from the kitchen chair
I exited the dinner table and made my way upstairs.
Once I reached upstairs, I walked into my bedroom and plopped myself down onto my bed, taking deep breathes again to calm all the emotions inside me.

I know some of you are wondering why Carrie's last name is not the same as her father's, well it's because she kept her mother's last name.
And to let you know, I'm going to try and make a trailer for this book (;
