Silent Comedies: Part I

Aaron was just about to open his mouth to say something when Avalon's voice chirped out from the other end of the hallway.
"Oh there you two are," she said sweetly as she walked towards us and looped arms with Aaron.
"The movie is about to start and Justin is glaring at me so hard I feel like my face is about to fall off," she looked sideways at Aaron with a pout on her perfectly shaped lips. Aaron's face softened, and he finally broke eye contact with me to softly stroke Avalon's cheek.
"Give him some time to heal Ava. He'll come around soon and then we can all go back to how we used to be." I hated the way Aaron's voice sounded so sweet and soothing as he consoled her. I could feel the threat of tears forming in my eyes and I forced them to stay at bay as I plastered a fake smile onto my face.
"Sorry to keep you guys waiting, I'll go drop these snacks off. See you two in the living room," I did my best to sound as upbeat as possible as I stepped around Aaron and Avalon. But before I was in the clear, Aaron leaned down and whispered,"this isn't over." I didn't show any sign that I heard him, I simply dashed to the safety of Justin's and Danny's presence, the two people who were actually happy to have me there. I burst into the living room causing Justin's head to snap up from his phone while Danny was too engrossed in scrolling through the Netflix comedy section to look up. Justin raised an eyebrow as if asking if I was alright and I just nodded even though I knew he could see through my lie. I sighed heavily for the second time today as I set the snacks down on the table. This was all thanks to the two certain someones whose name's start with the letter 'A'.
Ignoring Justin's knowing look, I decided to lay on the floor next to Danny, knowing that he wouldn't question me on my mood since he was... well since this is Danny we're talking about. He glanced down at me and smiled before returning to scroll through Netflix. I smiled back until I felt a sharp pain in my leg. I turned around just enough to see Justin patting the vacant spot on his left.
"Did you just kick me?" I asked as I took the seat on his right instead, not wanting to risk being sandwiched between him and Avalon or him and Aaron.
"No. My foot slipped," he replied matter-of-factly, which surprised me because this was my first time seeing this humorous side of him. I half smiled and bumped shoulders with him, causing a corner of his mouth to lift.
"I'm pretty sure if I had an older brother, he'd be a lot like you." I smiled and spaced out staring at the T.V.
"Are you guys dating?! You'd make such a cute couple," Avalon piped cheerfully as she strolled into the living room with Aaron following just moments later.
"What do you think Aaron? Don't you think Lexi and Justin would make such an adorable couple?" Avalon sounded overly excited as if she had already planned our wedding and children's names. I hated how she called me by the nick name that Aaron gave me. It just sounded wrong when she said it. I turned to see what Aaron's response would be, but he was just giving me that same indecipherable look. Then he spoke, not breaking eye contact with me, "I mean why not? Being that they're always together, I wouldn't be surprised if they started making out during the movie." His voice was devoid of emotion, but I could still hear the cold edge in his words. My chest started to tighten and I felt a tear slip down my cheek, but I wiped it away quickly before anyone saw. I won't let them see me cry. I took a deep breath and slowly let it out as I turned back too look at Aaron who hadn't taken his eyes off me.
"Ha-ha very funny, but for your information, Justin has a crush on someone else," I swung my arm around Justin's shoulder and continued," you'd know who she was if you were his true bestie like me." I stuck my tongue out playfully even though I was feeling anything but playful, and luckily the others bought into my half-lie.
