Chapter 2

This is going to be a short-ish chapter compared to most of the others, but:

                                                                           Mel's POV

We both ran at human speed toward the school's reception, as a) I didn't know who was watching, and b)...I didn't know exactly how fast Jesse could go, him only being half our kind, the other half human.

Jesse made himself a blur, running ahead of me, as he read my thoughts about me not knowing how fast he was.

"You saw I wasn't a normal dude...I guess..." I heard his 'voice'  of thoughts echo into my head.

I raced at vampire speed now, streaking like a bullet to the reception, looking for some trace of Jesse, a scent, some sound, so as I could see his face when I beat him there.

Turns out he beat me...

He was standing outside the school car park, with Beth, his car keys in his hands, next to an RX-8, a beautiful car I might add, and my vintage black Porche, to which Beth was holding the keys to; as she didn't want a car. She loved to run.

"Hey, what's going on Beth?" I thought to my sister, who looked up at me when she heard my 'voice'.

Jesse looked slightly confused, but followed Beth's gaze, and those icy blue eyes of his looked at me in awe, as if I were an angel...

                                                                           Jesse's POV

 "She's an angel..." I thought dreamily to myself.

Mel and Beth both grinned at the same time, looking so much alike they could have passed easily as twins.

"We are twins..." Mel teased, sarcasm dripping from just those three words. "And thanks about the angel bit, Jesse."

She winked at me, and I blushed, probably looking like a complete idiot, making Mel's grin go even wider.

She blinked, tearing her eyes from me, and looking at her sister, Beth, shaking her head, and stammering a little.

"Umm...Beth? You wanna drive m-my car, and Jesse and I will d-drive his?"

They both looked at each other for a minute, obviously discussing it through their thoughts. I couldn't hear them very well, just the odd faint word every so often like 'he' and 'why', but didn't have a clue. I didn't understand how they could do that so easily.

It's quite easy," Mel said, answering my thoughts. She bit her lip. "But you have to be erm...blood related, or..." She hesitated, and looked down at her feet..

"You have to be mates." Beth finished, looking at her, a huge grin on her face.

"Yeah." Mel said, looking at Beth accusingly.

The was an awkward silence.

"Well, I talked to Miss. Purlak, and she said it was fine." Beth said, thankfully breaking the silence.

"Cool. So does that mean we can go?" I asked.

Beth stared at me, eyes wide with shock, her perfect eyebrows raised.

Mel sighed and rolled her eyes, then looked at Beth, and were having another 'thought conversation'. I stood there with my hands in my pockets patiently, waiting for them to finish. Beth sniffed once in my direction, which confused me a little, but I just stood there, looking at Mel's perfect ivory face, which occupied me enough I could stand here forever, Just watching Mel's beautiful face.
