★☆★ Ryan's P.O.V. ★☆★

Taking one last look at the house, I place my hand on my dads shoulder. "We should get going," I say.

"I hate to leave the house I watched you grow up in," he says sadly.

"That's in the past. Your future with Heather is more important... right?"

He shakes his head. "No. You're more important than anyone. If you don't want to move or are uncomfortable with the situation - anything - just tell me," he says, his eyes meeting mine. "All you have to do is say something and we can stay. Your opinion matters more than anybody else's."

My dad is happy and that's all I care about. Taking a deep breath, I open the door. "I like Heather and I can't wait for her to be a part of the family."

Smiling, he makes his way out of the house.

Today the realtor came by to take pictures and make sure everything looked good. By tomorrow my childhood home will be on the market. The selfish part of me wants to stay but I can't do that to my father. He has been great to me and he deserves to be happy with Heather.

He let's me drive the moving truck which is relatively small. We downsized a lot since we're moving in with Heather and her daughter. This house is only a two bedroom and they have a three bedroom.

All I know about Heather's daughter is that her name is Allyson and she's a year younger than me. I like being an only child so bringing her into the equation isn't something I like. But again, my dad's happy so I am too.

We were supposed to move in the day after tomorrow - after the wedding - but Heather called and said her daughter won't be home until the day of the wedding. Apparently she wasn't handling this thing very well and she went to stay with a friend. Heather had originally said no but she could tell her daughter needed some space.

I don't blame her. They dropped the bomb of their marriage on her when she didn't even know me or my father existed. I told my dad on numerous occasions that it was wrong but he never heard. All he could see was his future with Heather. Nothing else crossed his mind.

"It's the big white house on the left with the red door," my dad days.

"You've been here before?" I ask.

"I've picked her up when we went on dates before and she invited me in a few times," he shrugs.

I shake my head. "That is wrong on so many levels."

He looks at me confused. "Why? I didn't say we had sex or anything."

"Ew," I scrunch my nose. "That's disgusting. I meant it's wrong for you to be in her house when her daughter didn't even know about you."

"She was asleep. I was always gone before she woke up," he explains. "She never suspected a thing."

I chuckle. "Sometimes I wonder about you."

I check the mirror before backing into the driveway. By the time we're out of the truck, Heather is outside, hugging my dad. When they begin kissing, I awkwardly turn away. There's a boy walking across the street towards me. "I'm Tyler. Do you live here now?"

We shake hands. "Yeah. I'm Ryan, by the way."

He nods. "Cool. Where'd you move from?"

"Only about twenty minutes away from here," I shrug.

"Well there's a party tonight. There's gonna be a lot of girls and alcohol," he grins. "Give me your number and I'll text you the address."

I hand him my phone and he dials his number. When his phone rings, he hands me my phone back. "Do you live around here?" I ask.

Looking down at his phone, he saves my number. "No. My cousin lives over here. I was just inviting her to the party," he explains. "I just sent you the address. Invite as many people as you want. It's gonna be lit."

I nod. "Thanks man. I'll be there."

"Good. I'll see you there."

When he walks away, I turn back to my dad and Heather. "Where's my room?"

All three of us grab some of my boxes and Heather leads the way up to my room. Across the hall is a door which I assume is Allyson's room. We put my boxes in the corner and I begin unpacking.

The party is crowded. It's so loud, I can hardly think. When I spot Tyler in the corner, I make my way over to him. "You made it," he smiles.

After introducing me to everybody, he takes me to get a beer. We head back over to the table with his friends and I look around the room. He definitely wasn't lying when he said there would be a lot of girls. But one of them stands out more than the others.

She has light brown hair and blue eyes. The shirt she wears exposes her stomach. Her shorts are extremely short and I can't help but stare. She's beautiful. "Don't waste your time, man," Tyler says, looking at the same girl. "She doesn't get with anybody."

I glance at him before settling my gaze back onto the girl. "Why not?"

He shrugs. "I don't know. She could have any guy she wants but she always turns guys down."

Throughout the night, I watch a number of guys go up to her and flirt with her. But never once did she flirt back. The only people she'd talk to were the girls I assumed were her friends. As I leave the party, all I can hope is that I see her again.
