Brother, Why??

"Loki, put me down!"

Screams of joy from the young Asgardian princess could be heard throughout the palace, causing all who heard them to smile, for all of Asgard loved their princess.

Said princess was currently struggling against her brother Loki as he picked her up and spun her around. This was all in play of course, the minute somebody got hurt or upset, the other would sense it and immediately start trying to fix whatever was wrong.

This kind of bond was formed through Loki being whatever Freya needed. Odin was often too busy to spend time with anyone but Thor, so Loki became father figure. Loki filled the brother role for both himself and Thor, as Thor didn't have much time for his sister, and would rather go out with Odin, or play fight with his friends. Frigga still was mother to Freya, but if Freya had a nightmare, it would be Loki she went to. If she was upset over something, she would seek out Loki to comfort her. Either sibling would do anything for the other.

Freya ran through the beautiful halls of Asgard, seeking Loki. Thor had grown out of his 'girls have the lurgy' phase, and had grown closer to his sister, but Loki was still her confidant and friend.

When she did find her elusive brother, no words were spoken, Loki simply held his arms out for a hug, knowing what was bothering her. The ceremony. Every young Asgardian of noble birth went through it, it being a ceremony which determines what a god/goddess is capable of, or what their powers are.

"You have to be in the hall in four minutes," Loki eventually said. "I know it's scary, but it doesn't hurt, and you'll finally be able to know what you're the goddess of."

Freya looked up at him with innocent yet terrified green eyes. "But what if it turns out I'm not a goddess? What if I don't have a domain?"

Loki snorted. "Freya, you are the most special person I know. Think of it this way. Even Thor managed to get a domain to rule over, and he's Thor! If Thor can do it then Freya definitely can."

A few hours later, it was time to announce Freya as a goddess. "I now give you Freya Odindottir, goddess of beauty and love!" Odin's voice boomed around the hall, and Loki could see Freya very subtly give a sigh of relief. He couldn't help but think that that domain fit his sister very well. She was beloved by everyone, and returned their affections, and she saw beauty in everything and everyone.

All was well in the Odinson household.
