Before you read! Please make sure to check out my Author's note at the end.
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping on my bedroom's balcony. Enough has happened yesterday, and I don't have the nerve to walk into the gym and laying an eye on Bell. By now, she probably was already out and about going back and forth from every group or text message she has with others on her phone telling them what happened yesterday. Maybe even changing the truth to something that'll make things worse.
Waves of people already started crashing towards Thomas, Dylan, and I already before school ended the other day. Believe me, I don't want to deal with anymore of that.
I turned over on my side to face the nightstand beside my bed. Since I slept so close to the edge, I was able to read a message from Dylan blinding me on my phone that was laying right on the verge of the nightstand.
"You might want to wait for Thomas and I at the gate before you walk in... :/"
I groaned and pushed myself up, knowing that today will stress me out beyond how usually stressed out I feel. What a great way to start the school year.
-
Listening to what Dylan had messaged me this morning, I wait at the school gates for him and Thomas. My hood was pulled over my head. Not because I didn't want people to bother me, but because I didn't want Bell to notice me. Plus, the weather was about to freeze me into an ice cube.
In the distance, I could see the two boys walking towards me. Both of their pairs of eyes set on me. Neither of them having their happy expressions as usual. Even Thomas's clueless one. The two reached me. Dylan sighed stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"Sorry to say y/n," Dylan apologized, "but let's just say people still fooled by Bell aren't going to cooperate with you today."
Thomas nodded.
"How supportive, Thomas."
"Very," he responded.
Thomas grabbed my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine. A familiar tingling formed in my stomach, as if it was already a daily thing that happens to me. I walked forward through the gates with Thomas by my side, and Dylan walking behind us. Conversations stopped the closer we grew towards people. By now, Bell probably let out her feelings all over social media. Which leads people to asking her why she was upset. Obviously leading to her telling her super obnoxious and annoying friend who's basically the gossip girl of this school. So, now we're at a dead end where basically everyone knows. Great.
Then I realized, what should I be so scared of? I already told off the most "popular" kid in the school. Which will probably be the most terrifying moment in my life for now. I confidently kept my head up, giving others nasty glares whenever they would throw one at me. Thomas gently squeezed my hand and whispered in my ear while I was busy giving a girl "the look". Though, some of them flashed me a thumbs up. Those people were obviously, the computer nerds of the school. Bell's perfect target. For the others who actually appreciated what I do, I smiled brightly at them.
Childish Thomas dragging with him stuck his tongue out at almost everyone. What a cutie (Sorry Dylan LMAO). Finally a walk that felt like hours ended. The three of us reached the staircase and made our way up it. Right before I was able to place my hand onto the door handle, to my surprise it started opening up before me. I stepped back only to find Bell on the other side of the door. Along with her other Barbie brats, the chatter stopped between them as Bell caught my eye.
Bell's mouth slightly opened up as her mood changed, but before she was able to speak Dylan pushed passed her. Which made room for me and Thomas to go through while the girls stood there in shock. Instead of Bell stomping after us, she stayed back. Somewhat looking like she had mixed emotions. Which was fairly unusual. Her eyebrows were narrowed down, making her look upset, but the rest of her face had a soft expression. Then I turned my head back to Thomas as he let go of my hand and ran up to Dylan. He whispered something into his ear folding his arms with a small frown. I wonder what he said. I mean, I doubt they could be fighting. They usually get along really well. In fact, I haven't seen them argue before.

Pushing my way through the crowd of girls, I could sense a smile tug onto y/n's lips. Exactly what I wanted to do. I'll admit, Thomas got lucky to hook up with someone like her. I knew Thomas would notice what I've done. It's a thing that all observant boyfriends would notice. Another man showing off, trying to act a certain way just to get the girl's attention. Though, I wasn't afraid to challenge him a little.
Just as I thought, Thomas soon tapped me on the shoulder muttering to me. "Hey," he said folding his arms walking beside me. I glanced over my shoulder to see y/n raising an eyebrow at the both of us. "You were trying to show off to her earlier, weren't you?" His frown turning into a sly smirk.
"Maybe," I chuckled.
Before I was able to say another word, y/n jogged up to us. "What are you guys talking about?" She asked slowing her pace down as she walked beside me on my right, and Thomas on my left.
"Oh, just some guy stuff," Thomas says shuffling behind me to make his way to y/n's right side.
"I see," she says curiously. "I'll catch up to you guys at Drama class in a bit. I have to go get something from Mr. Haulfer." Before y/n turned the other direction to walk back to Mr. Haufler's class, Thomas twirled her back around with a tug of her hand and pecked her on the cheek. With that y/n's cheeks turned a bright red but she didn't smile uncontrollably. It was odd. I knew it was different. To me this was a sign she just didn't feel the same for Thomas. I could be wrong. I mean we're only 8 chapters in. Y'know?
After I snapped out of my thoughts, y/n was already making her way down the hall.
"Challenge accepted," Thomas smirked at me. "Though I'm the one in the lead right now."
"You maybe dating her currently," I sighed rubbing the back of my head with a grin, "but we'll see who she'll fall for in the end."
