The bell rings and I walk out into the courtyard for lunch. As I walk past Dylan he waves at me and I do it back. I recall the moment we had during assembly and I think about what's going to happen in detention after school. I don't notice a smile spreading across my face until my friend walks up to me and asks what I'm so happy about.

"Hey," she says snapping her finger in front of me. "Whatcha smiling about." She smirks as I look at her.

"Oh, hey Rose," I raise my eyebrows. "I never actually knew I was smiling." I chuckle.

She folds her arms in front of me. "So what's going on?"

"Nothing."

"Oh, I totally believe that."

"Really?"

"No."

I rub the back of my head a little embarrassed.

"Now you're blushing," she smirks. "Is it Dylan?"

My eyes open wide and I flinch as she says the word Dylan. "Uh... Yeah." I say hesitantly.

"I knew it," she sighs, "but you know he has a girlfriend right?"

I look up at her surprised that I didn't know. Even though it was pretty obvious he would be surrounded by girls. He's short as I said, but you can't deny his appearance. "No. I never knew." I raise my eyebrow.

"It's Bell," she says with her arms still folded. "Honestly I don't find them a good couple. Yet he treats her like a princess, it's cute."

"Bell?" I ask even more surprised. "Do you know how back stabbing she is? For God's sake she broke up about three couples trying to give advice." I make quotes with my fingers as I say the word 'advice'.

She shakes her head as if she was ashamed. "That girl just doesn't know how to stop. She likes Dylan, Shawn, and Austin."

I nod. "I'm amazed Dylan agreed to date her. I mean it's obvious she asked if they could go out." I laugh a little.

Rose laughs as well. "Do you like Dylan?"

After hearing her say that I can feeling my cheeks burning up as I stand there with my eyes wide open. "N-no." I stutter.

"Hey," she says with a warm smile placing her hand on my shoulder, "I'm one of your best friends. You can't trust me."

I nod shyly and I look down with cherry red cheeks. "I think I do..."

Rose takes her hand off my shoulder and keeps the warm smile on. "I won't tell anybody else you can trust me."

"Good, because if Bell finds out... You already know how deadly in gossip it could get."

"Yeah," she looks up at the clock above the school doors. "Well, I think I should go now. I have my photographer's elective," she waves her hand at me as she walks off. "I'll talk to you later y/n!"

"Bye Rose!" I wave back to her. Once she left I turn around and see Bell yelling at Dylan. I can't entirely make out what they're saying because of the far distance, but I can tell Dylan's expression shows that he doesn't care. Bell storms off back into the school with her arms folded.

I look back at Dylan who runs his hand through his hair and sits down on a bench under a tree. I walk up to him shyly. "Hey. Are you okay?" I stutter.

Dylan looks up at me with a warm smile. "Yes," he nods, "I'm fine."

I sit down on the other side of the bench scared to approach him any closer. "I heard you two are dating," I say looking down at my shoes.

His eyes follow me as I sit down. "Yeah," he says with a sigh. "Hey. Can you promise not to tell anyone this?"

I look back up to him. "Yeah," I smile. "Of course."

He twiddles with his thumbs suddenly looking down at them. "I don't like Bell."
