Harry stood there, unsure of what to think.
Diagon Alley was less crowded than usual, with only half the kids as usual running around to get school supplies. Usually it was bustling with people, and you could barely walk three feet without bumping into someone.
This wasn't anything like that.
"Everyone's worried that Voldemort is gonna come back," Hermione said, holding Ron's hand.
They had been official since the end of June, while Harry and Ginny still had their feelings to sort out.
"He's gone, though. I destroyed him," Harry muttered, beginning to walk down the cobbled street in front of him.
"We know you did, mate. They just don't."
Harry gave Ron a grateful smile.
"I wonder how many people are coming back to finish their education?" Hermione pondered aloud.
Professor McGonagall had allowed all the seventh year students to come back due to the war, but not many had obliged. As far as the Trio knew, it was only them.
"Harry! Ron! Hermione!"
The group looked behind them to find Neville and Luna walking towards them, hand in hand.
"Hey, Neville! Hey, Luna!" Ron yelled, waving with his free hand.
"Hey, guys," Hermione said, smiling.
Harry just smiled.
"How was your summer?" Luna asked in her sing song voice. "I imagine it was rather busy, what with the press and media bombarding you and whatnot."
Hermione laughed and said, "It wasn't that bad, actually. A lot better than we all thought."
The four continued talking as Harry stood there, lost in his thoughts. He had become distance over the past few weeks, keeping himself away from people as much as he could.
Ron and Hermione had noticed this, but no matter how many times they tried to get him to open up, he stayed silent.
The more they wanted him to open up, the more he closed himself off.
"Harry? You okay?"
Harry snapped himself out of his thoughts and looked at everyone's faces, concern clear. He just nodded and turned away, then began walking towards a random shop.
Hermione sighed and watched him as he closed himself off yet again.
"He's been acting like this for a while," Ron whispered to Neville and Luna glumly. "We can't get him out of it, and neither can any of my family. We've tried basically everything."
Neville nodded and said, "He'll come around, Ron. Just give him some space."
But no one realized that a certain someone was watching the five as they talked and chatted away. No one realized that a certain someone watched Harry as he left the group.
That certain someone happened to be the one and only Draco Malfoy.
Draco was so confused on why any of the Trio had even bothered to come back to Hogwarts so finish their education. They probably had spots at the Ministry waiting for them already.
So why'd they come back?
But unfortunately, Draco was caught as he continued to stare at the Trio.
