I woke up this morning to my favorite song by Roy Ayers. I'm really excited right now because today was no normal day. Today is the beginning of the end of my senior year. I only have to attend school for two months and I'm finished. I've looked forward to this since I was nine years old and it's finally happening.

I hopped out my bed and went into the bathroom. I shut the door, and began my morning hygiene routine. I cringed when I heard my younger brother, Micha, running up the stairs.

"Lisa, Lisa! Open the door, I gotta pee!" He yelled annoyingly.

"Just a second, damn. Wait a minute! Mom and Dad have a bathroom, use theirs." I yelled.

Micha laughed and kicked my door. Bitch.

I walked down the stairs to the dining room where my older brother, Raney, was.

"Hold the hell up! Where you think you going without giving me my hug?" Raney said.

"What's up Raney? What brings you back to Compton?" I asked embracing my brother.

"Just in town with Tiana, figured I'd come visit my family. You got big girl! Last time I seen you, you were this tall." He said using his hand to gesture my short stature.

"Where Mom and Dad?"

"Upstairs in their room. You staying over here with us?" I asked.

"Yeah for a few months. So what's been up lil' sis'?"

"Trying to finish up school. What about you? What's going on in the life of Raney Herman?" I chuckled.

"Promoting you know. Working with this guy name Andre Young. Nigga got plenty of potential, but he wasting time at that lil' club on 35th."

"Oh I hope everything goes well with that. Do you feel like giving me and Mi-" Mom and Dad cut me off by running down the stairs.

"Oh my gosh is that my lil' Raney day?" Mom asked running to squeeze his cheeks.

"Hey mom. Wassup Pops?" He said continuing the lil' family reunion going on in the kitchen.

"Mom can I use your car?" I asked interrupting.

"Sure just come right back after school." She said.

"Great. Love you guys. Bye." I said shutting the door.

At school

I walked in the halls of Compton High. Being the smallest senior and everyone towering over you was really irritating. I searched the hall for my best friend, Ebony.

"Lisa!" I heard a familiar voice squeal from behind me.

I turned around and Ebony jumped on my front.
