“Indeed, as I was saying you and your little pack have caused me a great deal of trouble, so much so that I have had to track you down myself. Well you know what they say: if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.” The twinkle in his eyes shows he finds himself funny, well I don’t.

“What do you want?”

“Well I want the granddaughter back for starters, my deal won’t go through without her, and I’ll be good to my word; I always am, she won’t be harmed and she will be released once the land is in my possession. However because of this little set back and because of the lives I have lost due to your little packs savage ways I want her too.” He juts his chin in Bella’s direction. “I know who she is and what pack she is from, they are the biggest pack in theEnglandpossibly evenEurope, I will be able to get good leverage over her Alpha with her in my possession. Besides right now she is damaged goods, If I take her I can get her medical help, how long can she possibly have if she is just lying on the forest floor in the middle of winter, in nothing but a blanket, that can’t be doing her any good, let my pack doctor have a look at her.” He is taunting me, I know the danger Bella is in right now and he is trying to appeal to the side of me that wants what is best for her. But if he thinks that I will just hand her over to him he is completely insane.

“Yeah, that isn’t going to happen, you will not get her.” I say in a clam voice that completely defies how I really feel inside. “As for Elle, her mate will have gotten her far from here already.” I’m bluffing, I have no idea where Drake and the others are but he doesn’t know that.

“I have people searching for them, they won’t get far.” He says with a flick of his wrist as if dismissing the subject. “Yours was the scent I picked up so I guess I shall deal with you first and hopefully we can get this done quickly so I can get to my meeting in the morning.”

“Cocky much?”

“Just confident. You know of my reputation I am sure.” His smug smile has me grinding my teeth.

“Yes, but I don’t know why you are smiling, all those things have made you the lowest of the low a monster in the eyes of everyone.”

“They have made me feared.” He growls. “No one tries to double cross you when you have a reputation like mine, no one attempts to take advantage and no one talks back. It is a form of respect. The fear people display is what gets me up in the morning, a trembling voice is music to my ears and the smell of fear is preferable to a field of fresh roses.”

“I’m not afraid of you.” Well it is half of the truth, this human stood before me I am not afraid of, his wolf on the other hand, well there is something about that thing that worries me a little. The stories that have been passed down through generations about the man stood in front of me are enough to make the strongest warriors recoil in horror, but I have to banish these thoughts if I am to remain strong and get out of this alive. I cant help but shake the thought that something about the stories are off though, “Do you know what I don’t understand about your reputation?” I ask wrapping the word reputation in air quotes. “I don’t get why the stories say that you are loner when you have people doing your bidding or why they say that you are a recluse that stays in wooded areas, yet you have business meetings.”

“I would have thought these things were simple. I am not the original Dark Wolf that title goes to a shifter way back, who did do such things as the reputation entails. The stories are all historically correct, however my hands are clean of them. Those were different times when mass murder occurred in villages and no one really cared, or could do anything about it, you couldn’t get away with it these days. The title Dark Wolf has been passed down, as far as I know I am the sixth so far and when my time is up I will pass it on to someone else who is deserving enough to carry such a responsibility. Each new Dark Wolf has done things differently and in my time I have created a pack of sorts times are changing and I wanted to be ready. As for the business meetings, I am still a man living a relatively normal life, blending into the background until I’m needed to instill terror or what not. I have modernised the name, no legacy, to keep up with the growing world, who ever follows the Dark Wolf will never want for anything and this will be the case for years to come and that is why I am found, more often then not, in a suit and not in wolf form terrorizing the country side.”
