I'm Bandit Way; the daughter of Gerard and Lindsey Way. Being a fourteen year old freshman at Belleville high school is already lame and uneventful. However, having dark hair, a fringe, and decent music taste makes you something of an outsider. And of course, there's no better way to be a target for bullying than having both of your parents in a band that isn't mainstream music. Having a mother who never cared all that much doesn't really help either.
I've spent lots of time on my computer up to this point in my lifetime. The downfall of having parents that are famous is that you can't give your phone number or email to anyone, meaning a limited social life by default. However, that never mattered to me being that I'm considered the "emo loner" by the incompetent assholes in the hell-hole that's been dubbed "school"
I was pulled out of my thoughts as there was a knock at my door. "Yes?" I called out. I had been so busy wallowing in my own self-pity for the last few days that I had forgotten the fact that my dad- the one and only Gerard Way, was leaving me behind for four months to go on tour... again.
My dad opened the door and his red head popped in. "Hey B." He said, almost solemnly. He loved touring, but I've always known that he hates leaving me for very long. As a kid, we'd always spent so much time together. He was what you would call the imaginative dad. He was the one who introduced me to comics, and taught me to play Dungeons and Dragons. So, basically he raised me to be a dork by default. Hey, that's not always a bad thing.
"Hey Dad, what's up?" I asked looking up from my laptop and shutting the lid to give him my full attention.
"You do remember I'm leaving for the Danger Days tour tonight, right? Your Mom is also leaving tomorrow evening for a small set of shows in Jersey and New York, so it's only a few days. I know you hate that we have to leave for tour, but it puts food on the table. At least you'll have Lily and Cherry staying over until your mom gets back."
Oh great, my cousins Cherry and Lily who never talk to anyone besides themselves. They often found themselves getting into trouble at school for not answering teachers' questions and other things of the sort. And when they do speak to other people, Frank winds up getting called down to the principal's office and often comes home in tears; still blaming himself for what happened with Jamia. Now, without a mother to help raise his children, he was left feeling like he was failing as a father.
"It's hard to forget." I replied, trying and failing to be devoid of any emotion. My dad crossed the small distance from the door to my orange desk chair and gave me a tight hug. From up close, it seemed as though he had been crying. This probably meant that he and Mom had gotten into yet another argument.
"I'm off to finish packing." He said curtly, staring at the rustic wooden floors so intensely it seemed as though he was trying to burn a hole in them with his eyes.
"Okay, Dad. I'll be out to say goodbye to you guys later" My dad nodded, and slipped out the door, shutting it gently behind him. I heard his footsteps echo down the hallway, leaving behind the slight trail of sorrow that seems to drags along with his shadow these days.
I changed into my black pajama pants and oversized Misfits top. Hearing Frank's voice from outside my room catches my attention, and I jammed my feet into my slippers hurriedly before exiting my room to both greet and say goodbye to them before they left for tour.
"Cherry and Lily are gonna be over tomorrow after school." Frank directed his words to me, causing my head to snap up and out of my sorrowful thoughts.
"Okay," I replied, "Bye Frankie" I said giving Frank a tight squeeze before walking over to my father, "Bye Dad. Good luck on tour." He smiled and pulled me into a hug which the rest of the guys decided to join in on as well.
