Chapter 1: Alpha Of RedWood Pack

The lunch room was loud, filled with howls and growls of the werewolf students. RedWood High School is a school for specifically that one type of supernatural creature; so, it was generally very loud. If it wasn't, something was wrong.

In the middle sat Marcus Fuvumine, the beta, Eugene Orland, the gamma, and me, the alpha of RedWood Pack. We were in a playful conversation when Bethany, Marcus' mate and the beta female, joined the table. She smiled and kissed Marcus on the cheek.

"have you heard the news?" She asked, looking directly at me.

I raised an eyebrow in question. "heard what?"

"That two new wolves are joining the ranks? The elders decided it."

"Without me?"

"Yes. The rumor is that you would've scared the boy and his sister off."

"there's a boy?" a spark lighted in my chest for a second. Mate? 

If it wasn't obvious already, I'm gay. No one knows except for my Eugene, Marcus and Bethany, because they can't keep secrets from each other. Mate's pact. Bethany and Marcus gave me a sly smile. Eugene looked at me with a pointed stare. Homophobic much? Damn. According to pack law, the alpha must be mated to a female in order to produce offspring; however, as the current alpha, I could totally change that. Not saying that we don't allow gays, of course. That would be hypocritical of me if I didn't.

Eugene looked at the, now kissing, mated pair, chewing on a french fry. Then he looked at me, a curious look on his face.

"Think it's your mate?" he asked, still munching on a fry.

"Possibly. I hope he's cute." I mumbled the last part. 

Eugene rolled his eyes, "If it is your mate, they'll be cute no matter what."

I nodded my head in agreement, smiling. 

"true," I said, nodding my head in approval. 

The overhead suddenly went off, quieting the cafeteria, to call me to the office. I stood up, smiling down at my small group of friends.

"plus tard ! ~" I cheered, walking off. 

The cafeteria was, unfortunately for the workers, right next to the office. So I didn't have to walk very far. I opened the door to the office, smiling at Mrs. M, the receptionist. She was an older lady, an elder in my pack. She bowed her head in respect.

"Alpha," she said. "Your uncle is waiting for you in his office."

I nodded, smiling kindly, "Thank you, Mrs. M," I said.

I made my way to the office, feeling butterfly's erupt in my stomach, like bunnies in mating season. Strange. I opened the door, sniffing the air slightly. No unusual smell. I looked at my uncle, the principal. 

"You called?~" I asked, feeling a cocky smile make its way onto my face. 

He looked like an older man, though he was no more than thirty-five. Not blessed with good-looks, I assume. He frowned in his usual manner when he was around me. He doesn't like me too much since I'm the son of his brother. 

"Sit down," he said gruffly, motioning to the chair. 

I flashed my wolf's golden eyes, plopping down onto the couch of the small office.

Don't disrespect me, Malcolm. I'll rip your tongue out and show it to you.

He gulped, showing his neck a little, whimpering in submission. I chuckled, finding a thirty-five year old man being submissive to a eighteen-year old. 

Out of nowhere, the door to the office opened, revealing two newbies. I guess the new kids? Wasn't one of them supposed to be a girl? I sniffed the air again. Again, nodda. god-dammit. 

Malcolm cleared his throat,  fixing his neck tie.

"oh uh, alpha Jason, these two Taylor Mindingo and Riosa Heather. They're brothers by adoption and you two, this is alpha Jason...

I looked at Riosa, smiling friendly like.

"well," I said. "That's a nice name."

that explains why everyone said that he was a girl....

I turned towards the principal, "Why exactly, did you bring me here?"

"So you could show them around the school. As alpha it is your duty to--"

"Lead the pack, I know. I've heard and recited it a million times before." 

I turned towards the two newbies, standing and motioning for them to follow me with a kind smile on my face.

I'm kinda dissapointed that Taylor kid isn't my mate. Oh well!~ I'll find them someday.

I heard one of them giggle lowly behind me. Did I say that out loud? I hope not....

Alpha - the leader of the pack. Takes care of the members and pack business. 

Beta - the alpha's second in command. Takes over the work when alpha isn't there. Advises the alpha.

Gamma - Third in command. Does all the paperwork >.> acts as beta when alpha isn't there.  

mate - short word for 'soul mate',  a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.

Pack - a group of wild animals, especially wolves, living and hunting together.

Alpha female (Luna)- The alpha when current alpha, beta or gamma isn't around. Mate to the current alpha

 Beta female - The beta when current alpha, beta or gamma isn't around. 2nd in command. Mate to current beta. acts as alpha when the current alpha, beta, gamma or alpha female isn't there.

Gamma female - The gamma when current alpha, beta or gamma isn't around. 3rd in command. Mate to current gamma. Acts as beta when current alpha, beta, gamma or alpha female isn't around. Acts as alpha if current alpha, beta, gamma, alpha female or beta female aren't there. 

Elder - (1) the elder of the council, decides everything. (2) the elder of the pack, a veteran of the pack.

plus tard ! ~ means "Until later!~" in french
