The year is 3090.
268 Earth years ago, a colossal volcano beneath what was Yellowstone erupted. The effect was cataclysmic, most of Earth was deemed uninhabitable. So the Humans abandoned the small blue and green orb and searched for a new planet to live on.
Some decided to move on the nearby L-class planet known as Mars, but most have made the Hantan system the new Sol.
Of course, there were some who decided to become nomadic. Many generational ships soar through the Galaxy. Despite having their home destroyed, the Human race has adapted to life in space and thrived because of it. There is no more war or debt. They solved all their problems and differences and learned to live amongst themselves peacefully.
But all could not remain in its perfection, for fate would not have it. Over time Mars became inhospitable for the frail, yet brave humans. The colony was destroyed when Sol finally went nova, Mars and the remaining planets in the system were destroyed.
Currently, most humans do not leave the Hantan system or their ship. They have since become a xenophobic race and generally keep to themselves. But of course, not all Humans are this way....
