Please                                                   take me away from the slivers of darkness, from the gaping void that creates a hollow through my chest; pull me out from this cold frozen body—a rotting flesh tainted with scars that might never disappear. The aching bitterness in my soul, devouring the humanity I have left, seals me with burning desires I cannot—

Help                                                       falling into—its snares of temptations holding me captive, surrendering in defeat, helpless, beaten at its feet. Broken, I am hanging from a shattering crevice, at the edge of desperation, an endless devastation luring me to give in to the darkest depths of myself, to the raging beast awaiting escape to strike and drag—

Me                                                         to the dark side where lost souls mourn and mercy, shunned. The shadows lurk in taunting strides; my demons whisper twisted thoughts in my ear, like lingering lullabies, a sickening curse. I utter a silent cry, a call for hope, for salvation from my ruthless fate as the beast chants, "Embrace me, child." I open my eyes. The demon is me.
