Co-Worker

Chapter 1

I threw my graduation cap up to the sky, the warm spring air swept across my skin as the last 14 years of my life fell back down into my hands.

Finally school was over and I couldn't be happier, graduating with the 5th highest score in my school was the cherry on top.

"Addy, my dear" my mother squealed.

My mother is super quirky and sometimes super annoying.

My mothers short brown hair made contact with my skin as she hugged me, she then pulled away and squeezed my cheeks like I was a little baby.

Oh gosh..

"I am so so proud my little baby" she yelled so the whole school could hear.

So embarrassing.

"I'm so so proud little baby" Ashton mocked.

Ashton is my older brother, when dad left he was the one who stepped in to help mum and me out. I must say even though I love him so much he can be the biggest dickhead.

I looked up at my brothers big hazel eyes and shook my hand through his dirty blonde hair.

"Guys it's not that big of a deal" I insisted.

I tried to hold in my excitement, if my family gets to excited about things then fuck, there goes my social life.

My mother started to skip away to my best friends mother. I didn't want to be rude so I followed behind her like a puppy dog.

"Hello Clare and Addy" Carol announced.

My best friend Daisy was kind of rich and her parents where very conservative, sometimes I felt that her parents always judged my family.

"Hey Carol" my mother replied happily.

I gave Carol a nod and a polite smile. Carol smiled back.

"So.. Addy, when will you be starting university" Carol snobbed.

Oh no, should I lie? I don't want my best friends mother to think down on me, maybe I should tell the truth.

"I think I am going to hold off on university, I just got a job at target and I'm going to save up my money" I said unenthusiastically.

"Oh.." She held a long pause.

"Daisy is going to one of the most expensive university's next Autumn" she smiled.

Ah she makes me so mad, Daisy doesn't even want to go to university, she wants to travel and do art. I am so happy my mother isn't so stuck up.

I grinned at Carol and signalled to my mum that I was leaving.

Carol and my mother kept conversations going while I went to find Daisy.

I huddled through all the students and parents until I spotted Daisy's bright blonde hair, I ran up to her as quick as I could.

"WE GRADUATED" I screamed into her ear.

"Ouch Addy" Daisy laughed.
