BONUS CHAPTER: Through Ahmed's Eyes

Ahmed Abdurahman

I smiled as I felt the nice European breeze blow against my skin and took everything in. I'm back at the place that I once hated but right now, I couldn't be happier to be back. To get a fresh start and be the person I want to be. I looked around at the crowded airport and immediately recognized everything.

I'm back in Europe!

Who would've thought that I'd be back? Also by choice this time. As I grabbed my suitcase I searched the airpot for my aunt and uncle.

"Ahmed!" I heard a familiar voice shout from behind me.

As I turned around I saw Aunty Amina and Uncle Salman along with my two younger cousins, Yusuf and Sami.

I've missed all of them so much. They stuck with me through thick and thin and had patience with me when others would've kicked me out. At that time I would've done anything to get back home to Miami. I did some things that I'm not proud of and I wish I could fix.

I approached my aunt and uncle and gave them hugs before turning to my two cousins and embracing them as well. Yusuf and Sami are twins that inseparable, they're always together 24/7. It kind of remind me of Hamid and Amara. Amelia and I are also twins but for some reason we weren't like that with each other. Don't get me wrong, I love my sister and I'd do anything for her but we just never had a relationship like that. In someways, I think ours is even better than that. I then put the twins in head locks, messing up their perfectly curled hair. "We're glad you're back cuz." Yusuf said with a huge smile on his face.

"I'm glad I am too."

For some reason I feel like something big is about to happen. I don't know what it is but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Afterwards I decided to go to the places I enjoyed going to when I lived here.

I only have a week before I'm supposed to move to the dorms and start classes so for now I just want to relax. "What's up bro? How've you been?" My friend Saleh said as he put an arm over my shoulder. He's actually one of the few people I really missed, you know other than my aunt and uncle and cousins. "I've been good Alhamdulilah. What about you?" I responded. "I've been pretty busy." He replied.

We stepped inside a small Ice Cream parlor and ordered what we wanted. I used to love coming to this place after school. They have the best Ice Cream I have ever tasted! I turned around and accidentally bumped into someone, making their Ice Cream smear all over my shirt. I noticed a girl who was wearing a blue hijab looking at my shirt which has vanilla ice cream all over it. The girl finally caught my gaze and gave me an apologetic look. Quickly another girl came to her and started moving her hands around frantically. The girl with the blue hijab quickly started doing the same.

"My sister here said she was sorry and that we'll pay for your dry cleaning." The other girl said. I'm guessing her sister is deaf. I cleared my throat and grabbed a couple of napkins. "It's okay she doesn't need to." I gave her a gentle smile. The girl with the blue hijab smiled back at me, I'm guessing in gratitude. She put her hand to her chin and brought it down. I already knew that she was saying thank you. "No problem."

The two girls left leaving me standing there. I don't know what just happened but I have a feeling that, that was just the beginning. Finally Saleh came back and handed me my ice cream, he looked at my shirt with widened eyes. "Whoa what happened to you?" He asked.

"I don't know..." I said, still in a daze.

But I know that I'll remember that girl with the blue scarf.

"Okay, I'm fully settled." I turned to my family and said goodbye to them. Right now I'm standing in my dorm with my luggage all put away. I'm supposed to have a roommate but I haven't met him yet. "Alright sweetie, call us if you need anything." Aunt Amina stated as she enveloped me once more.

"You're always welcome in our house." My uncle added. "Of course, thank you all for helping me with everything." I then watched them leave the campus. I can't believe that I'm actually going to live in these dorms for the next four years. I don't know what's going to happen here but I feel like its going to be a really good experience, In Shaa Allah.

I'm ready for whatever it is that's waiting for me and I couldn't be more excited.

Hope you enjoyed it!
