Kenshin grabbed his reversed edged sword off the mantel. Karou watched in confusion. As Kenshin turned to leave, he saw her and froze. "Uh...Miss Karou... I'm sorry but I have to go..." He said.
Karou looked up, her arms crossed, "where are you going Kenshin?" she asked quietly. Kenshin grabbed her hand, pulling her close. "I'm going to Kyoto. I will be back tomorrow." He said.
Karou, squeezed his hand. He brushed hair out of her face, and hugged her tight. "But... do you want Sano to go with you Kenshin?" she asked. Kenshin shook his head. "I don't want you to worry Karou." He said. "I know... but..." She stopped, and she reached her free hand up, she stroked his cheek, the left one.
"Your scar is almost gone Kenshin." She said. He grabbed her hand. "I know Karou. I'm promising. I will be back tomorrow." He said. Karou wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'll wait for you." She said.
