📕 Prologue: How to Find A Spell Book 📕

"...and how could you have spelt forge wrong?" Mr Linner 's eyes scanned over the paper which he was delicately holding in his hand, "Twice? And each time spell it differently? I mean, the spelling was on the board." Mr Linner inquired shaking his head as he looked up from my paper. He gave a soft smile once he saw my dull and worried expression.

It was Friday lunch time on the first week of my last year in high school and I had been told to stay behind by my English teacher so he could have a 'word' with me. We've been here for ten minutes now, that's not what I consider a 'word', which just made me more worried about the creative writing task we'd just handed in yesterday.

"Don't worry, besides that, you've got the best piece from the whole class, with the highest score, even with your weird spelling mistakes. I just think if you improved your spelling, it would really help. I mean your off to college soon.." Mr Linner explained causing me to sigh in relief that wasn't in any kind of big trouble.

"So how can I improve my spelling? I've tried everything, reading, searching the Internet for hints and tips, I just don't know what to do now." I conveyed my problem to him as he placed my paper down, he thought about it for a moment, eyebrows furrowed and hands clasped together.

"Have you tried a more basic approach?" he finally asked looking up at me.

"Basic?" I questioned.

"Yes, try the library. They should have some books about spelling, you know, the kind that they use in Primary School to teach the little kids." Mr Linner suggested.

"Wait, my spelling can't be that bad?!?" I asked with shock written on my face. Mr Linner chuckled.

"Just try it." he said looking back down at the stack of papers indicating the discussion was over.

"Thank you Mr Linner." I said as I swung my backpack over my shoulders and walked out the empty classrooms into the hallway.

"What'd he say?" Ella, my best friend asked as she sank into step with me.

"I need to learn how to spell." I muttered causing Ella to laugh.

"I could've told you that two years ago when you spelt 'Spelling Homework' wrong. I mean, spelling homework? It's supposed to teach you how to spell and you just put the poor thing to shame." Ella said while laughing. I stopped her in her tracks when we came close to the library.

"I need to get a book on 'How to Spell', Mr Linner said. Can you come help me find one?" Before Ella even had time to answer, I was dragging her through the library doors.

"I better not miss lunch." Ella glared at me as I tried to pull her along.

"Chill. There's still like thirty-five minutes left." I reasoned while rolling my eyes which made Ella sigh in defeat. We walked through the different sections trying to find something for me to use as guidance. Five minutes later, we were just about to walk back to the front when heard a voice from our right making us spin towards it.

"What are you guys looking for?" Chase, the schools most popular enough guy asked calmly walking over to us.

"Hi Chase." I waved as I noticed his best friend Oliver also with him, making me a little nervous. Oliver and Chase have been best friends since reception, kinda like Ella and I, only we've been best friends since we could talk because we're next door neighbours and we spend nearly all our time together because of our parents. They're partners of this huge company and they always have to go on random business trips. I don't blame them though, they do this for us. They even suggested we get homeschooled so we could go with them, but Ella and I chose not to.
