I was born the son of an alcoholic
And that's not the worse part
You see, he was nearly always drunk
When he was there
But that wasn't very often
His presence was limited and rare

It wasn't the recklessness
More the neglect
And a lot of carelessness
He was a sour fellow
Full of bitter and meanness

Some say he was a sad clown
I'd say he was more a miserable villain
He wasn't funny or amusing at all really
He'd poke fun and ridicule
He was sarcastic and distant and despicable

I'm better off without the booze
And sleepless nights
I'm better off without the fool
And the worrying
I'm better off without him.
